Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

ok, so I caneled my goose eggs day 14 and two had stoped devoloping (tossed them), two had crazy air sacks like up one side and a circle in the middle! (left them) two looked great and one .... I swear I could not find an air sack!?!? but something looked to be devoloping! (I have a very weak light so I cannot see much) I did leave this one as well... all 5 went under a broody Sussex who accepted and could cover them all... I plan to mist them once a day when she gets off to feed......

so do you think the crazy air sack eggs have a chance??? and what is up with the no air sack... could I just be missing it...could it maybe just be moving around?

So while I am waiting for my 30+ goose eggs to hatch, I did a walk around and checked under things to find my Muscovies have been busy laying and hiding eggs, and my Welsh Harlequins have just started laying their first few. Fortunately I had just enough room in my second 'bater (already having 2 doz. Ancona eggs) to set 17 scovies and 5 WHs.

Now I just hope some geese hatch out and make room before too many more duck eggs accumulate. I only have 2 hens of each kind, though, so I think it will work out. Ducks, ducks and geese everywhere! (Pure Joy!)

April 2nd came around and no goslings hatched from Ginger. She is still sitting on them. She got off for a while today but got right back on them. So if nothing tomorrow I guess we will take them away from her as No hatch eggs.

Looking forward to seeing pics of all your hatchlings.. :)

Thank you Miss Lydia. I have been breeding for over six year now and was wondering if when left under the goose when it is cold out if they take longer to hatch??
I think one of the eggs exploded in the nest with her because it stinks I guess if it did that the bad eggs would cause bacteria for the otherss and cause them to die.

Did you get the hoses that colaspe?

I looked at them yesterday while at Walmart and didn't buy them because I am wondering how well they will hold up to being dragged over rocks and poop and stone walkways? I'm going back to Walmart tomorrow with my dh for his imput. How are you liking yours so far?

luvchick, the clicking sound is great. It means they have internally pipped. Make sure your humidity is up high and look for an external pip near fat end of egg in another 24 hours.
