Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

Lock down was this weekend for me but I don't think the eggs will hatch. I think the night that I fell asleep and left the eggs out for 7 hours before waking up and realizing it, killed them. I will keep them in the incubator for a few more days but then I will call it quits. :/

What a bummer, Pete. Very sorry!

I get a lot of grief about running a damaged still air styro bator and considered switching after my early round of losses with my africans, but I blame that on not being more diligent with controlling temp of bator room and having humidity too high, and didn't want to have to go through the learning curve of a new bator on my dewlaps. It would have been better if you worked out any kinks from new system with eggs from another breed, but such is life. At least your season is still going and you will hatch more dewlaps before it is over.

for fertile eggs from your gorgeous older pair!!

I am really surprised at the willpower of the one I hatched with a swollen head. I really didn't think he'd make it past 24 hours. Every little first he does.... drink of water, poop, standing up.... feels like a major victory. He's not out of the woods yet, but I'm hopeful.

I unplugged my hatcher that had a tray full of duck eggs and they are still ok. The temp guage says it got down to 53.........

Maybe you are delayed a bit. Remember goose eggs can go 28-32 days.

I have an update on the mystery of the gray Embden.

The farmer I got the eggs from said that she did briefly have an African female, but there were only two possible days she could have been laying. So I guess I got the one and only egg from her. The father, presumably, is one of three Embden ganders she has on the property. Even if the mama was still around, she's not telling.

So I have an African-Embden. I'm thinking of calling him/her Toto.

All my geese are done hatching now. Got 17/20 on the last batch, and 6/6 on the previous batch, so I'd call this season a success! Now I just have to figure out how to sex them and sell the extras.

Ok. Thank you for the reminder and feeling that there is still hope. Much appreciated. :)

Here are my 3 goslings today. The 2 grey saddleback's are from our Gloria I have not gotten goslings before from her. The Blue SB is from Hanna and Nikki. I did not think that the one grey SB was going to make it she was so limp and out of it..... The best thing are the 2 grey SB's are Females!!!!! YEA!!!! Not sure what the Blue SB is but I hope a female as well.
The one on the left back with the darkest head is the one I have been worrying about and will still keep an eye on her...

Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh. We have 1 lone egg that has made it to day 23!!!!!!!!! We haven't had an egg the veined make this far. I am so excited. Come on baby goose! (if she hatches she will have duckling companions).

I had set 6 more goose eggs about a week ago. Only 1 is veining from that set. I'm not having very good odds...must be fertility because I am hatching chicks and ducklings just fine?
