I'm trying to plan out how many coturnix i can set for this hatch along (as for once i should have a good supply of eggs haha more then i may need). At any rate, i know for adults they say .5-1 square foot per bird, but for growing up just till butcher, can you sqeeze that some?

I hate to admit I may have Loaded'm just a tad heavier in a grow out pen once or twice.... It works out fine. Just watch for aggressive birds and eat the aggressive ones young... They taste better anyway!!! Bill

Edit to add: you can get by loading your pen heavier per sq ft, in a larger pen. If that makes sence... I run large 6', 8',and now building 10' long pens... IMHO...

i'm planning on quads in 24"X24" rabbit cages..
had a bunch in old rabbit hutches years ago.. but never had them long enough to worry about fighting.. they went to freezer camp as soon as they got to a decent size.. lol (and nope.. dont remember the actual size of the hutches.. been too long ago for this old brain cell.. )

I'm having no problem keeping quads in 24x18, i don't think i'd want to go any smaller thats for sure. theres no picking or aggression issues. but I don't want to have 100 cages to grow out freezer birds lol. so by load it a bit heavier, have you got a rough estimate? I have a brooder pen(table top) thats around 5 or 6' long, 2' wide and tall. and i've got a double rabbit cage that is 24 x 30 each side.

How many eggs i can incubate isn't a safe limiting factor as i have 2 hovabators and 1 cabinet incubator lolha. I'm trying to stick to the hova at this point though, and have about 20 quail eggs in there now
