Let's play "What's Wrong With My Duckling", Shall We?

;-; uh oh

Not really an uh oh. I just haven't raised a ton of quackers. When I had ducks out in the country the moms raised them even though I checked them often I have never seen patches is all.
My one group in town was fed flock raiser with nutritional yeast added, zero scratch, romaine lettuce as a treat once adulthood was reached. My country ducks ate duck feed from the local mill.

Id say part of the problem is a vitamin deficiency. As the smallest he probably isn't getting a fair share of the food. Plus, ducks require more niacin than chickens. Liquid B vitamin complex is cheap, readily available, and can be added to a small amount of water-3 or 4 drops to a cup of water. Give it to him in a ramikin or small pie tin. Keep it up for abou a week. Your patches are likely related, think of it as duck scurvy, but still, just not enough essential nutrients.

aah, ok! I'll def try that out.

Also is it possible that it's some sort of infection? When I had gone to visit my grandparents in India they had two kittens that my dad recently bought. they had weird lol patches on their ears. usually if something like that happens a natural remedy is ash. my dad applied te ash and that worked! do you think I could try something like that as well?

It might possibly be an opportunistic bacterial infection or a fungal infection, but proper nutrition should give your duck's immune system what it needs to fight it off if it is. I don't think ash would hurt, but i think good nutrition would help more.

I forgot to add to the earlier post that if your ducks are eating chicken feed it shouldnt be medicated. There are chicken drugs that waterfowl can't process and the ducks can be poisoned slowly. Not all chicken feeds use the same medications; I just avoid all medicated feed to be safe.

alright, so I'll add b complex to my shopping list. thanks!

I believe it's not medicated. I'll check again. dont think it is bc if it was pretty much all my ducks would be gone by now lol
