lets see the "ugly" coops plz

THANK YOU for this thread!! I am still in the planning stages for my coop and I'm trying to do it for under $50. Thinking of using old pallets or a dog house.

After seeing this thread, I realized that it is ok if my coop isn't perfect! It just needs to be safe and comfy for the chickens. I'm going to try and pretty mine up as best I can but in the long run, all that matters is that it works for the chickens! Thank you for showing this to me!

afinney....I love your curious goats. I want goats in the next couple of years to watch and enjoy and also to help clean out the undergrowth in the woods. Fence first, goats second.

Somebody told me that only certain types of goats are good for cleaning out weeds and such. I wanted one to take care of the poison oak and ivy we have growning at the edge of the woods.

Any of you goat people confirm or disafirm this?

The original name for my coop was Three Doors Down, because the three doors you see are all upside down, until a friend said, "It looks like District 9", and that name stuck. Above the screen door, I printed a picture of the spaceship above District 9, if you have seen the movie, it will make more sense. Still need to print the no human sign from the movie. Where the window is, the piece of plywood is hinged to open down, for easy coop cleaning, and getting eggs if and when that happens in about a month. The cost of the coop is about $30 for chicken wire to cover the run area and part of the coop obviously everything else is recycled building materials.

I was seeing some really great "ugly" coops. I love this post because I was laughing out loud, and suprized at others who think their coops are "ugly" and I think they are amazing! Now here's my "ugly" coop, it's an old ricky barn thing and it was a standing structure when we bought and moved into our house only a month ago. So we have plans to fix the roof, doors...and it leans, so we are going to attempt to straighten it. It also had built in shelves that we made into nesting boxes and we added roosts and we've since cleaned up around the coop, that was all the junk inside of it. My Chickens seem to love it, and they free range on an acre everyday and are locked back up at night, but we plan to make a run soon.

This little barn has a history as well, we hear from the nieghbors they had a old Ford model T in it at one point.
