I agree, great thread ! Very creative, not ugly coops everyone !

the ugly part is the trophy, I'm proud of my ugly coop and it is uuuuuuuuuuuuuugly

jeb251 and WolfandFinch, I thank you for the compliments! The cinder block was originally bought to support and raise my large coop off the ground, but I needed something heavy to hold down the apron of chicken wire so nothing would get in or out (2 EE's escaped before I did that). I will post more ugly coops in the future as they are made!

Those of us who are saying "none of them are ugly" are trying TOO hard to be diplomatic.

Let's face it. Most of these are extremely ugly!!!!

But that's not important. They're built from free or cheap materials and they do the job!!!

That's where the beauty lies.

and there's just nothing wrong with them being ugly really. I will be putting more time and money into making a pretty coop, but that's because it's how I want to spend my time and money - not because it's the "right" way to build a coop. Also I have lots of supplies already to help with the cost, including prepainted siding that matches our house. RIDICULOUS!

The temperature started falling as I was painting and hasn't been high enough since to finish painting but I had to move the chickens in anyway. The neighbors love me.

Okay, I figured it was time for me to add mine, lol. I built this one out of old fence boards but didn't bother sanding them down because I liked the chipped paint look.

Has a tarp because I haven't finished the roof yet but it does have Linoleum flooring!
Nearly everything is recycled, we even got the screws free from the place my grandmother used to work (liquidation store) because they didn't sell in time. The hinges & door latch are the only things I bought ($5).

I still think mine is the ugliest haha. Which this summer I do plan on building a propery coop which will ( I hope to God ) be a better looking coop.

And here is my (almost) 1 year old "Americauna" rooster. THe lady said he was an americauna but I have no
way to prove it. But he is really cool, very layed back has never been aggresive....yet. Just had to show him off lol.

I have to go out and get the snow off the top so the outside run doesnt cave in (that snow is wet and HEAVY!) and the small coop on the left is not being used, neither is the one on the right. I have just have those in case I have to seperate a bird for some reasen.

Any way, I still think mine is the ugliest. Which I hope to change this spring.

Once I figure out to get photos on here, I'm going to post my chicken dome made of recycled garage doors and corner bookshelves and pallet roosts. The other coop is also recycled garage doors, along with a double bed headboard turned upside down for nesting boxes and one of those old worn out tiki lamps' bamboo for roosts....why I even have a flower box on one of the broken out windows in the olive green garage doors. Both my main coops were three sided, but had to cover the other side after an owl flew in and killed some chickens.

So, wait with baited breath for my ugly coops..........

T , I think thats a great coop actually. I like all of them. I think the fancy ones are so expensive because people keep chickens in the city now, so they are using that as an excuse to make them pretty to put in the backyard and charge a LOT.
