The cat stays in with them at night, he cant come in the house because the last time he was in the house he decided to pee on my stove!

It is a dog run/kennel tht has plastic around it and a tarp as a roof. It keeps them warm and dry, works for me

He is 12 years old, he came with the name Geronimo or "G". He is really sweet but he got mad at me and peed on the stove

I hate that he has to stay outside but at least he has the chickens to keep him company

Well here's my ugly coop and run. Mine (like everyone else, I'm sure) is a work in progress. I was struck by the insane prices most places wanted for coops, and thought what they wanted for "plans" was absolutely insane. Somewhere along the way I saw pics for 4x6 chicken coops and thought that was right up my alley. I was in a bit of a rush, so I built my 4x6 coop sans finishing and sans nestbox for my girls. I tried to make it solid, with the idea that I had enough room to cut out better windows and such later on, and maybe even throw some vinyl on the outside if I wanted to. Including the original run, my ghetto coop ran me less than $200. Most materials were purchased, except for the 4x4s I had laying around. I could do it cheaper now, since I have found better sources for hardware. To any of you planning on building a coop for yourself, learn a few valuable lessons. Home Depot and Lowes are great for lumber, but they are ridiculous on hardware. Shop around. On hardware cloth and chicken wire, ask around to all the people in your area with chickens where to find the best deals. Sooner or later, someone will point you in the right direction. In the snow pic, you see the new run. Its about 30x15. I spent about 50 bucks for the wire and the 3/4 conduit. Conduit from HD, but the wire came from Bargains in Pelzer, SC. Thats 2 50ft rolls of 60"x2" wire for under $30. Shop around.
