Thanks Sunflower. I was thinking about using them as the next boxes, lol, but couldn't find any to fit. I've just gotten a lot of good ideas. What a pic that would make....a hen sitting in a toilet seat. Makes me laugh just thinkin about it. lol

Thanks MJ. It was never an outhouse, just made to look that way. I have a fliptop bench inside with the nextboxes built underneath. I'm trying to figure out how to add a toilet seat to it. Normal sized ones are too big! lol Maybe I could cut some out using my scrollsaw.

I was in Lowes the other day looking for a new toilet seat and they now make some that are quite small for the little folks that may live in your house. Maybe one of those would work. I'm not certain but I think the price range on it was $15/$20. I absolutely love the "outhouse" look and the door with the moon. FANTASTIC!

Thanks for all the great ideas. I have 4 11wk old RIR's. I only wanted 3, so I ordered 4 just in case. All four are happy & healthy. How fast they grow. The coop (or Krapper Koupe) is 4x4. The pen is also 4x4. I know I need to enlarge the pen, but thought it would be fine for this year. (wrong). I was also told that I cut the moon out backwards!?!?! It's just a chicken coop. Right?

This is what my babies started out in....its a beat up dog kennel...the top corner of the chain link is messed up and has a hole..about the size of pillow, and the pole doesnt fit in the connection at the top...so we rigged it with chicken wire to close it...and use this kennel....and then I got a dog kennel plastic one for them to sleep in at night or get out of the rain...and I put tarps all around...

Now this is what they have, another trash coop...I got this free, in someone's trash, dragged it home, and pained it, added fan grills for permanet doors, added a milk crate to the shelf inside for a nest, one up on the shelt, one under the shelf, added branches for roosting, and then added a privacy fence door to close it if I had too.

Here is my entry
Our "Mother Clucking Chicken Camper Coop"

It has a screen door made from hardware cloth, a pop door cut into the rear of the camper so they can come and go in their run!

Love to see pics of the inside of the "camper" - please?

I don't see any "ugly" coops - what I see are very ingenous, handy, crafty, diy'ers - that can get what they want with minimal out of pocket!

The inside is still a work in progress, right now we just have it gutted, with feeders/waterers hanging from chains and a few nest boxes along the walls. Plan on adding roosts, and raising nest boxes!

The floor is just really thick pine shavings!

I didnt see any bad coops yet either! My husband made me one out of old barn wood that he tore down and old nesting boxes from the barn that was being torn down. All scrap wood! Sorry I cant post a pic. It is too pretty!
