lets see the "ugly" coops plz

YEEHAW!! We finally bought the farm....literally! All the girls, (24 and 2 roos) have been free ranging because the past owner was too ill to repair the rotted coop and overly pooped run area.
And so it begins... We got a truck load of pallets at the feed store and scavenging what good wood we could find in the run, and in the barn, we started our official ugly coop.
The girls have been roosting in the trees and on the deck railing and it's getting into the 30's now.
This is the rotted coop and run area. Looking forward to showing the finished product!

Honestly, I've seen much uglier coops (especially when I look out into my back yard).

But your comment cracked me up!!

I'm envious of your junk pile, and luuuuuuuvvv the coop and yard. Looks like you have quite the brood of characters.

this is a pic of my first coop. Hubby built it for me for Mothers Day. Since then we have been improving and adding on due to chicken math.

this is how it looks now. work in progress

I don't have a coop, just a large run with a roost in the corner. In the winter months, I would just lean a board against the wall (two of the four walls are solid brick) for the chickens to huddle in...just in case the temperature went below 55*.

Thats the only coop the chickens ever have.

Here is the ugly coop I built for a small (3-4) bird group

The materials were what I had on hand; plastic lattice, chicken wire and hardware cloth to secure it. 5 gal. bucket for a nest and a 1 gal waterer with a 1 x 3" for a roost. It currently is not in use as some minor repairs need to be made. The coop was a free shipping crate I got from a company found on craigslist that was on my way to work, and is 3'x4'. I got 12 of varying sizes!! The base was a handmade bedframe that was given to me and is 4 x 8'. It is very ugly but worked very well when I made it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. While i really admire some of the fancy coops, i dont have the skills or know-how or time to build anything similar. Yesterday my DH finished our "coop"...an old bathroom cabinet wrapped in hardware cloth, plywood and boards to make it secure. it's not beautiful, but it's perfect for our 3 ladies. Pic is posted in profile.
