Lets talk about goats!

I'm treating them all like cl. I know it is bad but we have decided just to deal with it as it comes. I got a lot of help from @cassie learning how to deal with it. I'm not selling or showing or endangering anyone else's herd. My goat Ford that passed away had it. I haven't tested these guys but I'm just going to treat them all like it is. Although these are lower and not cottage cheesy. And you'd think I planted the raspberries just for them the way they run right for them during our morning walk!

Ya'll I got my dream goat last week, and she is due this coming month. My goat that thinks she is a goat is very jealous. Any suggestions?
A pecking order has to be established, normally I'd say put them together and walk away. But with her due so soon and just being moved there, I'd be more inclined to keep em separate if possible until after she delivers and kids are several days old and have there feet under em good. If you put them together now she could stress and you could have problems with early labor or injuries to mom and loose her, them or both.
Expect a lot of pushing and head butting. Keep an eye on the babies so they don't get trampled but unless one tries to hurt the other seriously, stay clear. They usually settle it quickly and no serious issues.

Hi guys, I just stumbled upon this post and wondering if anyone here can help me identify the breed of goats that I have. I purchased them from an auction 3 days ago and have no information on them at all unfortunately.. I'm fine with them being mixed breed if they are, Just curious if anyone knows their goats! I have tried searching the net but can't really come up with anything similar.
The brown one is a male, he has buds but no horns forming yet...He has a black stripe down his back and his legs and various other black marks, he is what I would consider a buckskin in color. I have no idea how old he is, if he is a baby or if someone de-horned him ( I don't see any indications of de-horning), He has a small face and head with floppy ears... He is already a bit taller than the female.
The black and white one is a pregnant female, She is very small..About 2 foot tall..( my son thinks she is a baby cow and she sure looks like one lol) I'm assuming she is a pygmy or mixed with one. She has no horns at all. She has blue eyes. Her ears don't stand up erect, But sort of lay out on the sides of her head outwards.
Posting a lot of pics from different angles for possible identification. Like I said, Its nothing major, we love them already. Just curious as to the breed or breeds that they may be. And if the male is a baby or if he will be a big boy. He is already sexually mature and trying to mount the doe if that helps any at all to age. He is very nervous so I am not able to check his teeth in case anyone asks. Hello!

No goat expert here, but we purchased 2 day old (rejected by mom) mini-Nubians back in January, and they look a lot like the male, so I would agree with the above post that identifies the male as a mini-Nubian (dam a Nubian, sire a Nigerian dwarf in our case). Ours were disbudded, so while the male has small scurs, the female just has little bumps where she once had horns.

Our male started becoming very frisky with EVERYTHING at around 6 months, so we had him fixed. He is much more pleasant to be around now. You might want to consider that unless you are prepared for some aggressive behavior towards your female goat and anything else that moves around him. Our vet took care of our little fella, and it was not that big a deal.

If your male is a mini-Nubian, I would guess his age around 6 months, based on what I can see about his size. Have fun--our goats provide hours of endless amusement.

I want some goats, but its taking a lot of convincing for my husband. I need to learn more form people who actually have them. Some websites are informative, but they dont cover the real questions, like, are they really fun or just a chore?

Do you have to process the milk, or can it be consumed straight from the bucket?

How much do they really eat?

Do they need special hoof care?

Do they need special suppliments?

Do they really eat everything?

Are they smart enough not to eat poison plants?

What sort of care do they need?

Are they lots of work like a horse?

Are they smelly like rabbits?

Are they mean?

Are you planning to breed, is that what the buck is for?

Do you plan to eat the offspring?

Im going to be watching this thread! I want to learn all i can!

What is a good breed for a new goat herder?

What sort of space requirements do they have?
