Lets talk about goats!

I have a strange question. My wife has wanted a pet goat for a while, and I was out buying a rooster and the seller of the rooster had a bunch of goats. One had kids but she was supposedly a half/half goat sheep. The father was a boer goat. I picked up the kid and brought it home because my kids and wife lived it. I was thinking that if it's a pet, all that matters is if it's cute. Now I have googled a bunch and realize sheep/goats are not common. So what could this be?

I very much doubt that the kid is a cross between a sheep and a goat. Now, I have had my Angora doe called a sheep more times than I care to count. And that lovely kid looks like it has an unusually long, beautiful coat. My guess, would be that Mom is an Angora or other fiber goat.

Is the kid you only kid? Goats are herd animals, and should not be kept alone. If you plan on keeping your adorable little bundle, you should definitely plan on a second goat.

I also had an angora goat at one time and people thought it was a sheep. When I saw the picture that is what came to my mind.

Of course they can. You can breed brother to sister if you like. The goats don't care.

Absolutely. When a buck smells a doe in heat, it doesn't matter if it his sister, mother, or daughter, he wants to breed her.

its not recomended. You can have genetic issues. I think you need 4 generations of out crossing for it to be ok to breed back into your original blood. But thats off the top of my head i may be wrong.

The cornell list has pine trees as poisonous.
That's what my yard is - pines with an oak tree here and there or some other random tree. But mostly pine with scrub brush.
Just had a guy out to look at cutting about 30 pines close to the house - he asked why we don't have goats yet.

My buck has access to a Juniper tree i was worried he was going to eat those berries which I know are bad also. I always wondered if they're bad why do the coyotes and bears eat so much of them. looking at the pine tree in the main lot I think they've reached about as high as they can get now.
