Can't figure out how to tag....how is little Ford doing?

He passed away Thursday. It was horrible. It was like he just gave up. I should have probably put him down earlier but I just kept thinking I'd find some way to save him. Stetson was horrible after it happened. He stopped eating and cried all the time. We got another goat for him and have another one coming Thursday so if anything happens to one we won't have to worry about them being lonely at a time that we can't find any. He's a Nubian pygmy mix and I'm having a hard time getting over how much different a healthy little guy is. Stetson is in love. First time he has another goat that actually wants to play with him. Loosing Ford was so hard but comparing the two now I'm realizing how hard he had it and I'm glad he's no longer hurting. I appreciate everyone's help and it definitely sucked not having BYC while it was getting worse.

And please ignore the long collar. We trimmed it right after these. The little guy is fast and likes to head butt dogs lol. He really dislikes my black female Labradoodle for some reason. Can you see the hate in his eyes? We named him Bud.

Awe I'm so sorry for the loss of your little guy. It's so hard when we feel like we can still help them and make it better.

I don't have any pics unless I screenshot from the seller's facebook. They look like Alpines though, except they have huge ears of the Nubian that they have full control over like an Alpine. They make them stand up! Absolutely adorable. They are twins.
Yes, our goals are milk and pets. We wanted at least two milkers. I drink a lot of kefir, and prefer it with raw goat milk. That's pricey to buy in the store! I also love the personality of goats. I am also very interesting in learning cheese making. We've considered a cow too, but our property is more suitable for goats and I like their size better!

That's awesome! They sound precious. You will have to post a bunch of pictures once you get them

I drink a lot of kefir too- haven't tried making it myself yet. I have made a few batches of cheese and it has turned out great!

But the new goat is adorable!

And you did everything you could for Ford. It wasn't your fault. They were sick when you bought them and never should have been sold. You were/are a great goat parent

Has anyone ever tried, with success, any of the "home remedy" goat pregnancy tests like pouring urine into bleach, or pine sol and looking for a lot of fizz or the circle of dandelions?

Thanks guys. Know that I know what a healthy little kid is like I can't believe how bad he was. Here is Yoda. Any tips on getting my boys to get along? Keep locking horns.

Maybe you could try keeping them separate but within site of each other for a few days or a week or so? Then that way they can get used to having each other around and maybe work out some pecking order issues/herd dynamics through the fence without actually fighting and introductions might go a little bit smoother?

I know that works for chickens but have no idea if it would for goats or not.

Also maybe try introducing them one on one?

I second that! Let them see each other and smell each other first, then move into more close encounters. My boys (brothers) head butt and play like crazies all the time- so as long as it doesn't go too far I think you're fine.
