from the Australian Marans site:Can anyone here tell me the genotype on a golden cuckoo marans... mine are the light type, so I am getting that he most likely homozygous for the barring gene. I am also trying to understand what makes them autosexing... its not just the barring...something else is going on too and I sure would like to understand.
Genome of the male being ER/ER or eWh/eWh or e+/e+ s+/s+ B/B Id/Id W/W Pti-1/Pti-1 and that of the hen ER/ER or eWh/eWh or e+/e+ s+/- B/B Id/- W/W Pti-1/Pti-1
I'm certainly no expert, but I'll take a stab at it. I'm sure there are others that may want to correct me. But for what else makes them autosexing- I think the gold (s+) gene helps autosexing if I remember correctly. if they were salmon cuckoo (e+) gene that would help also--but I think most golden cuckoos are not e+ from what I can gather.
