Ditto!

I have them coming out in droves now. Well I had three of three come out today. beats none!!

I have 27 eggs left in the incubator due out next week. Then I am shutting it down!! I can't wait for those they are Bantam Cuckoo Marans!!

Speaking of bantam marans, I need to get some updated pictures of my bantams, they are over 8 weeks now and starting to show who is what. I have a few cuckoo's and some black that I am still not sure how they will finish out. Some are smaller than others, some are brighter cuckoo than others and a couple have feathered legs. Can't wait to narrow down my breeding group and get started!

Will try and get pics later this afternoon.

I have a bunch of Raven's golden cuckoo eggs going on lockdown this Friday

Very nice color for GCs! I have been hatching eggs from everybody I can find with GCs- which is not an easy feat!

Anyway- who wants to venture a guess as to what the heck these are? Some kind of color project gone awry? The ARE marans in every way but the color is just so crazy. One is feather legged, one is not. I plan to grow them out here just to satisfy my own curiosity. '

These are from about a month ago- I am going to attempt more pics today. Anybody have any ideas about them?

WHOA!! Columbian, maybe?? Are you sure they are purebred? Sure is an interesting look though, can't wait to see how they turn out.

I will have some golden cuckoos next year, I have quite a few GC chicks that came out of my cuckoo hatch last week. I sold or ate them all last year but now my uncle wants to keep them for breeding so I suppose we will have those too! This batch is going to have real dark golden heads you can already see it in their fuzz. Last time I couldn't see it until after their juvie molt. I will have to get some pictures of them I think they are adorable.

Those chick pics almost look chocolate or lavender. Perhaps they are just a dominant white. Sorry I know I am not much help but I do know that with the dominant whites sometimes the white only covers some fo the color. Do you know what they came from?? I think they are beautiful but I am not as picky about my marans as most people

I would love to have a few like that pop out. I like to keep all the oddballs for my free rangers.

I am getting the NPIP testing done today. Thanks to "chicken Math" my 31 adults were actually 42

I even sold two hens yesturday! I thinned them out as much as I could I just have too many I like. Now I have to catch all the little buggers before she gets here.

I got a new pic- apparently a have a pair of these but the boy's pic didn't come out very well. I got them from a BYCer that got hers from Rockinpaints, but she also has BLRW and Coro Sussex so...I dunno! Maybe somebody jumped the fence. You can't really see it in this pic, but they both have almost Delaware-like ticking around the neck.

(you can see my feed bag potatoes behind her- lol! )

Here's a GC baby that hatched silver but started showing gold at about a week old- think its a girl:

She's from Nadine, I think.

And so is she (from Nadine)- but she looks almost like a rhodebar- cannot wait to see how she finishes out!!!!

They look wheaten based, and silver, so I would guess they have the sussex in them, though the lavender in the coro sussex wouldn't express unless both parents carried the lavender gene. Dominant white covers the black, so I don't think it's dominant white. They look heterozygous columbian, also from the sussex, that is creating the white breast. If they were supposed to be cuckoo, then the barring pattern comes from the hen, and you have two cockerels.

I was mistaken- just one has the barring or "ticking" around the neck. (pic in previous post) That one (when you see in person) is apparently the roo. They are turning out really pretty but I don't have a clue what I am going to do with them!
