Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Thanks for the reply. I certainly hope there are a couple pullets! Quite a few are definitely getting combs. It seems like the head spot size method is not very reliable, but maybe that is because I have all cockerels and I've never seen a small head spot! Time will tell.

Keep us updated with pictures. I am curious as to their sexes and would like to see how they look after they have feathered in

I am seeing quite a bit of comb development on them, so I am seeing mostly cockerels. # 1 and # 5 are possibly pullets.  A couple of more weeks and it will become obvious what sex they are.

So does a comb of any size mean the chick is a cockerel ? Mine all have a bit of a wibbily comb

I think mine are all boys . Three weeks old soon, and while some have smaller combs than others, all are getting pink. I'm not sure what I'll do, since keeping this breed will mean starting over next year....

Yes I'm beginning to worry about mine
Fingers crossed for two hens but the do look very cockerally to me
They have fat legs they bump chests fighting, big combs

One has got bald patches down either side its neck, I hope its just a feathering thing!

Hello all!

Just heard word from MyABCs3 that she had a great well feathered leg Golden Cuckoo cockerel to sell if anyone is interested. NEKansas, and I can help her ship.

Holler at me if she doesn't answer a private message.

How old are yours in the photo pinkaboo? I see they are starting combs, but they look yellow, not pink. Mine are starting to get color between 2 and 3 weeks.

Apparently only 3 wks yesterday!
I can't remember what a yellow or red comb means
I gave one a foot and leg massage today with some Vaseline
And got a picture of one I'm hoping is a hen
She is much darker on her back than the others
What do you think?

Just read the back posts, so comb turning red is a sign it could be a cockeral?

Keep in mind that I've never had this breed, but yours looks girlish to me, if the color of the photo is true.

Mine are three weeks tomorrow. I plan to move them out of the house this weekend, so I'll try to take some comb shots of mine before I transport them. Two of mine have smaller combs than the others, but all are very pink. I think I am doomed :/
