Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Pics
Girl, and... girl?? The lighter one is the new chick. Wish it was a boy, but despite the lighter color, I'm thinking it's probably another girl...

Two girls.

Thanks for your feedback!!! I am not such of his lineage, I originally wanted to order from a different breeder, but since he was sold out he referred me to a breeder in Kentucky, which is where he was from. I can't find her website or any info about her lines.

That is too bad that you can't find the breeders info. I am sure there are people who would like birds from her. Who was the breeder you were going to get Golden Cuckoos from?

Oh pooey! Well maybe I will keep him for awhile in bachelor's quarters until I learn how to tell a good male from a pass-on-that-one. I suppose you'll have better photos in the future ;-) since I know absolutely nothing! Other than what I personally think is pretty. Haha! thanks for giving my poor photos an eval!

I can't say this for all cuckoo Roos but I kept mine cause well I thought he was a she ..but Debby is really sweet and gentle enough to handle and nice to the girls and a wonderfulllll protector! Already seen him go at it with a cat and win lol

Well, I finally got a hold of one GCM pullet. Thanks go to Travis Lacey. He drove up to washington from oregon to do chicken buisness with someone who lives not to far from me, and he brought me his only GCM pullet this year that hatched only 2 days before selling it to me. Now it is under our broody mamma. Ill take pictures of it later. Just had to share with you all : D

Hello! I am thinking of adding the FGCMS to my family farm and was hoping to see what everyone thought I should ask the breeder before I commit to purchasing hatching eggs. Her birds look nice and with time and careful culling and line breeding I'm sure I can darken the egg color, which really isn't bad. I have raised Fbcms and know about the coloring and their standard. I have read about them not breeding true but am wondering if this can be bred out and if that had been done already. I do not want to offend or pester her to death so I am coming here! I would much rather purchase live peeps but she does not offer shipped peeps at this time. Any help will be greatly appreciated

I wanted gcms specifically for the egg color and the roosters have a stunning color appearance. I currently have 3 hens but no rooster. In reality, the hens are rather drab and not anywhere near the attractiveness of the rooster. Although they are docile to an extent, they are very skiddish and dont take to being held or fondled well. Egg size is good and my buyers are impressed with the bronze color. Not as dark as a bcm but acceptable In anyones egg carton. They dont always lay every day and I wouldnt count on them as a production layer. Its all about the egg color with this breed and not much else truly. Personally I would opt for bcms over gcms. The gcm color is too variable and not a good repeat. Why spend time on egg and bird color with little or no discerning value in return?
