Lets talk Kitchen sinks... What do you like?

I'm a little leery of making large purchases thru HD after a washing machine incident I had to battle thru last year, but I've had their site up looking at options & reading reviews.
I bought a washer and dryer from them last December and it went well.

Home depot contracts with a local installer for the counter tops. If they local installer is good, then the purchase will be fine. Maybe see if you can find out who that is in your area

I love being able to wipe the counters smoothly into the sink.
Yes! Everything is cleaner and easier to clean.

This is also why I wanted as few holes in the counter as possible...so we only have 2. One for the faucet which doubles as a sprayer, and one for filtered water.

Sorry about the wall of text above.

Next question, what type of countertops do you all like? Tile? Granite? Woodblock? Soapstone? Laminate? Something else? :pop

I hate my laminate. :sick

My dad's mom had tile... lots of work to keep it clean. :sick

My mom and baby sis have corian... (but i am sure any solid surface would be good), sure is nice.

I got corian for my laundry room counter.. counter goes over the washer and dryer, drops down to the sink, and is also used for the adjoining windowsill.

WOW easy clean. Corian can be fused, not just connected with calk... so NO CRACKS TO CATCH NASTY STUFF.

BTW, the area I needed done wasn't that large. I picked an "extra" that the installer had from a large job for a huge discount.

After your horror story about Home Depot..... we bought our new dishwasher from Lowes.

I've been trying to spend most of my money at Lowes too, but HD is a hard habit for DH to break.

I remember Corian being the dream countertop, but cant remember how it stands up to heat & abuse. I have a pretty big space to cover (again, weird to have a big kitchen in such a small house.)

I love your set up. Beautiful! I think you & Ron have me sold on quartz if I can find a way to afford it. I like the simple colors & the fact that it take take some homemaker abuse.

I want to see the tile you choose for your backsplash. Get on that already so you can post pics. :p
Thanks!

I know, I know, I want to see it done myself!:wee
This tile project is so long overdue... originally wanted white Greecian or Carrera marble installed up to the cabinets

but I had a few setbacks and now plans have changed because we want to move to a farm and just need to get our current house ready to sell without too much expense.

So I found some bargain glass mosaic at HD that's reasonably close to the look I was going for and the backsplash will only be 6" high. Now, if we end up staying in this house another 5 years I'm gonna be mad that I have to suffer that long without the tile I really wanted! (Actually anything will look better than it does now)

Don't know how long it'll take me to actually get it installed, so this is my mock version:

The Quartz is much more durable and does not need sealing and etc. When ours was installed, the Installer said that any minor scuffs could be buffed out.
Oh right! That sounds exactly why I chose it... durable and low maintenance as possible. I have one or two tiny scratches as well, my family is not careful in the least bit, and we haven't bothered to buff anything. I'm super happy with it.

It was in the kitchen that we moved into when I was a teen... (moved into a new house, so new corian).

I don't remember any damage... I will ask my mom tomorrow... I think heat is fine, but you still shouldn't use it as a cutting board...
