So I made friends with the produce guy at my local Henry's Market and convinced him to give me a banana box full of the lettuce trim pretty much any day I call. My chickens get open feeding of lay pellets/crumble, about a cup of scratch every day or so to share, and crushed oyster shell. They also get any fruits and vegetables that are past their prime in my fridge or on my counter. I have 11 chickens and am looking to get more. I was just wondering, should I be worried about this unlimited supply of free treats (lettuce)? I guess I'm just paranoid since I'm getting it for free. P.S. It's a mixture of green leaf, red leaf and romaine. No iceberg. Part of it is organic, some isn't. Thanks all!
