LG 9300 first time go

Question. Had one pip at the very tip. It has tried to zip a few times but hasn't gotten anywhere. It has stopped trying to zip for the second time. At what point do we assist? It pipped 14 to 16 hours ago we think.
If a chick starts a zip and doesn't finish w/in half an hour, I would help. Usually if they have trouble zipping, there's a reason.

Fell aslseep and was woken by our daughter, Lydia. The chick in question didn't give up and has zipped and is nearly out. Good thing too, it was about to be assisted after I woke. One new pip in a different egg. Waiting on two to pip and 3 to zip. BINGO, number 6 is out

One thing I have read from a usually reliable source is that they sometimes take a "rest" as they are zipping. Apparently they find it pretty exhausting. But this is exciting to follow your reports, BertandMary.

we are about 2 hours into day 21.

There just isn't a feasible way to keep the thermostat sensor on top of the eggs anymore. It is now on the floor of the bator and the temp has been adjust down to 99 degrees. We will be adding some sort if artificial support for it during the next go around.

Be sure to post if you find something that works, please.

Not sure if what I'm gonna try will work.

But I took the plastic sheet off of the probe. Took a zip tie and zipped it to the wires that run across the lid.

The probe end is stiff so I can bend it a little and get it to the level I want. Left just enough looseness that I can adjust toward or away from the element.

Running it with no eggs set in it seemed to work.

Let us know and share a photo when you can. Minion number 8 has decided to start zipping.

If you install the fan, you really shouldn't have a need to have it "egg level", if I understand what you are talking about.
