LGBT chickens? Is this possible?

Remember everyone, that animals that may mount other animals does not make that animal a homosexual. It means they are dominating the other animal. Think of dogs. Lots of male dogs will mount other dogs, stuffed animals, or people to show dominance. Please do not turn human behavior into animal behavior. Humans have choice, animals do not. They don't make decisions like we do. Meaning, an animal does not mount an animal of the same gender because it feels good. It's dominance.

Chickens are very hormone driven. Injuries to the reproductive organs can lead to behavior that is opposite of their sex - neutered males will go broody and act hen-like; Females with a damaged ovary will take on male behavior and appearance due to changes in their hormone levels.
In general, mounting is a sign of dominance and both hens and cocks may mount members of the same sex. This is all within their normal spectrum of behaviors. I hear stories of roosters trying to breed and dominate their owners all the time and all my hens squat for me. Cockerels with particularly strong hormones very likely (no personal experience with roosters myself) do occasionally mount other roosters with the intent to mate.
Gender and sexuality is much more fluid in the animal kingdom that many people like to believe. I think putting labels on certain patterns of behavior is really more of a human construct. You don't have to look far to find blatant examples of what would be considered sexual deviance in the animal kingdom.

:rantIf ANYONE makes a farmer, county boy or hillbilly joke, JUST ONE. I swear..!
Ok, ok, I’ll admit it..everyone tells me I’m nieve..I didn’t even realize that what I was typing could be..umm..usd .for..that..kind of joke.dirty jokes go over my head

I hate to be pedantic. Who am I kidding, I love it. I really doubt that there are LGBT chickens. Sexuality and gender identity are human characteristics based on identity. I don't think that chickens operate on that level any more than our dogs and cats do. They may engage in homosexual or opposite behaviour that may be due to hormones, availability of partners or a desire to maintain/gain a high position in the pecking order. Even though my coop is hen/pullet only, I won't be taking bookings for a dyke march in my back yard any time soon.

A chicken pride parade would be kind of funny, but I'm sure that the roosters and their loud dance music would annoy the neighbours.

I think what needs to be considered is Intersex vs Transgender vs Gay

For example, birds with chromosome imbalances that give them varying sex characteristics would be intersex.

Hens that crow could be considered transgender.

And then any animal is able to have homosexual behaviors

Obviously we can’t give human labels to animals very accurately, but I do know of roosters that only mount roosters and I do know of hens that mount hens and crow, so calling them LGBT jam entirely innacurate either.
