You're lucky you can get it. I have to go through a vet.

Another thing that can be done (and this has been PROVEN to work) is add a drop of active apple cider vinegar to their water. There are dosages online, bit it's very minimal.

I know everyone claims that ACV is a cure-all and this and that, but actual research has been done on this by actual universities.
Wonderful suggestion on the Apple Cider Vinegar! Probiotics work well too for chicks. Both help get the GI tract in good order.

I do daily checks for this exact reason, and I have observed nothing. I do have apple cider
No this was just to assess the situation, trying to diagnose it. I would add a few drops to a quart waterer filled with water.

I discovered that somehow a spot that's completely covered in 3 layers of hardware cloth and secured, got ripped open. One of my hens was loose so she got put back inside before I fixed up the spot.
Any ideas of what could have caused that?
Got a photo? Lots of night time marauders chew through wire...coons, skunks, rats, other assorted vermin...

Would it make a difference that it's not ACV, but just apple cider?
It's the vinegar that does the magic, BUT...apples are an anti yeast food and good for health. It will help give calories, it's good for diarrhea and will keep the little ones blood sugar stable. A tablespoon of Apple Cider to 1 quart of water will work. Make sure to change this daily as the sugars can go bad in this heat after 24 hours.

I'd imagined it was the fermentation doing the magic. I guess I'll do that for now until I can get the amprolium
