I'd imagined it was the fermentation doing the magic. I guess I'll do that for now until I can get the amprolium
You should definitely have some amprolium on hand however the Apple Cider in the water may make a difference! We still aren't exactly sure what's going on.

Of course ill update yall! And yes, I will do the beak thing. By the way, I only know of amprolium as a coccidiosis treatment. Are there any other effective medications?
There are other anti coccidial drugs, Sulfadimethoxine, Metronidazole, even Acidified Copper Sulfate kills some, however the first 2 are antibiotics and the Copper is harsh. Amprolium is the safest thing to use, all it is is a Thiamine blocker, Coccidia can't survive without high levels of Thiamine so they die quick. Unfortunately I don't think any natural treatments treat an outbreak although natural things can help to prevent outbreaks.

Well this isn't good. The chick is most likely gone. I'll be going to get the medication today, this can't wait it seems. It does puzzle me that the chick passed in less than 12 hours from the first symptom. I've had birds with coccidiosis in the past (granted, older birds) and this doesn't take them out as fast

Oh no, I am so sorry! :hugs It's probably not Coccidiosis at all, yes it takes a few days to die with Coccidiosis and usually they don't start showing symptoms until the end of the first week, usually not the middle. This could be from a host of things, you will probably never know. :hugs

Thank you. I'm feeling OK. As harsh as it sounds, the good thing with breeding your first birds after years of keeping birds in general is that you've seen some horrific stuff. I'm bummed, but I will survive. Right now my brain isn't functioning very well, so you'll have to treat me like a toddler. Are you saying that it might've not been coccidiosis or any bacteria/organism/disease, but rather something not contagious that won't need treating?
