LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

They are scary, most of these bears are quite scared of humans but it's not worth the risk of getting mauled by one, so I do keep as much distance as possible. But I love seeing them and other wildlife moseying around the yard!

Oh yes, scary, deadly, but beautiful!

You're really good at it. I've seen her guard, she just doesn't seem to be bothered by the fox soon enough. I imagine she waits to hear the warning calls from the birds

there is a difference between general property guard dogs and LGDs, I don’t think the normal guard dogs care as much about predators.

so you definitely need a LGD :p

I don’t know much about individual breeds  what do you want from one? I have heard Pyrenees wonder a lot and Anatolians are more people aggressive then Pyrenees

The less grooming the better. Don't care about people, to be honest. Super bird friendly. Hyper aware of their surroundings, don't care if they wander too much, as long as they can get to the predator in time. Not dog aggressive, if properly introduced

No breed comes to mind and I don’t know what you have in greece. Rather then concentrating on a specific breed I would see what breeders are nearby, look for one that has poultry and none LGDs with their dogs. You can research the breed they have more once you find a breeder. LGDs weren’t originally bred for protecting poultry so it can be harder to train them with poultry then other livestock

Good day Fluffy and Flock! :frow

Cruella and crew are looking good today! :)

Babies are growing those primaries! I am going out on a limb here, the light colored chick is a male and the other 2 are female. :D The 2 are much further ahead in wing and tail feathers, males are notorious for taking longer to feather out. 🐤🐤🐤🐔
