LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

They were all at different stages pretty much. I mentioned live bearers with corydoras once as an ideal tank and you might as well thought I was saying to keep a tortoise in a full tank as well with all the shouts that I was just killing them for no reason like that

Why would people be mad? Most corys kept in captivity are home-bred anyway, it's not like a death sentence to keep them at a higher PH with livebearers

Something about water softness or hardness? I was told to look up what my water was and when I asked how, they just kept telling me I was looking in the wrong place.

Our water here isn't very ideal for fish though either, we think. We used to be great with fish back in Michigan, and here we just really struggled. Plus I can't have more than a 10 gallon here, so I'm just going to wait. I like the idea of using some big rubber horse troughs for tanks, so I think I'll do that for the goldfish and live bearers (the livebearers I'm thinking about just incase I get some animals that eat fish so I don't have to deal with the whole feeder goldfish issues I keep hearing about)

Yeah, PH bladih-bladih-blah. I hate when people do that. Most cories found in a petstore will be well adjusted to any water really. And most livebearers don't need EXTREMELY hard water. People care too much about having the right GH, KH and PH, bit not about keeping the fish alive. Sure, cories like it softer, and livebearers harder, but most fish in the hobby are tank bred and can handle much more, 7.5 isn't going to kill either, people! Rant over

My last Cory did super well, even by himself for like 2 years. I had 4 to start with when a friend was downsizing, lost 2 and got a larger one to keep a trio, and then lost that one and the 3rd original so I was only left with one. I know I should have gotten him more, but he seemed like he was doing okay alone (still appearing and eating, not hiding all the time) and I just decided after him, I was done for a while with fish.
