The ones I've seen are generally about ⅓-½ again as large as a jumbo coturnix
Wow, thats small! My bird there is a Bobwhite, at least a 1/3rd bigger than a Coturnix. The ones I've seen are generally about ⅓-½ again as large as a jumbo coturnix
Good to know on the size, I have never seen a Serama in real life!Full grown serama are and should be larger than a bobwhite, or any quail for that matter. The boy in question is sightly smaller, and much less poofy!
Gorgeous bird, by the way!

Thanks, that was "Sweety", she's gone now. It was a chilly morning and she was fluffed up keeping warm.![]()
Oh gosh, I am so sorry she is struggling!Hi all! I'm so sorry to come here with this, but I'm desperate (the regular health folks aren't answering in the thread I created) and I know y'all always give good advice.
My (10) 4.5 week old chicks are currently being treated for coccidiosis. 9/10 have done great with the treatment (they're on day 4 of Corid), but one of them, Peanut, needed the "drench" dose. I was advised to give her 0.1mL per day x 3 days. Yesterday, she was acting better, she had normal poop, eating and drinking, etc. Even this morning she was better.
I gave her the 3rd "drench" dose this afternoon, and she IMMEDIATELY started to fall asleep and she has been laying down/sleeping ever since. She has not eaten or drank on her own since I gave her that dose. I got her to drink a few cc's of sugar water with baking soda and salt in it from a syringe as well as a few drops of egg yolk, otherwise, nothing.
I'm afraid she isn't going to make it through the night. Do any of you have experience with this sort of sudden decline when treating coccidiosis. I'm just heartbroken. She really is my most favorite chick.

And this was Thursday (I started the drench dose this day):

Thanks, @TwoCrowsOh gosh, I am so sorry she is struggling!I have never had an issue using Corid. Its a pretty harmless substance, blocking Thiamine from being absorbed and Coccidia die. I wouldn't use any baking soda as its loaded with sodium, too much. Sugar is good as is egg. Im not sure what else you can do, I kind of doubt its the Corid but it could be. There is a molasses flush that might help but I've never used it. You might start a thread in our Emergency forum and tag @azygous She is really knowledgeable about using flushes and diagnosing stuff.

The only thing that is possiblity going on is she is now deficient of vitamin B1 which will cause severe weakness. Do you have any supplements with B vitamins? Rooster Booster? Poultry Cell? Thanks, @TwoCrows
I did start a thread in the emergencies section and azygous helped on that first day (Thursday). She was the one who advised about the drench dose. I went back to the thread with an update a while ago, but havent received any feedback. I just know the forum gets inundated with emergencies and she probably gets tagged all over the place.
I just feel so bad bcs this little baby was fine this morning and then, in an instant, she is hanging on by a thread.
P.S. for the sugar water, I just used a tiny *pinch of salt and baking soda in order to make a sort of electrolyte solution.
