LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Do any of you have suggestions for anything extra I can give my poor molting senior hen? It seems to be the worst molt for her this year.
Meat protein of some sort helps with feather growth. Cooked ground beef or turkey. Cooked fish is good too. A heaping tablespoon full once a day will help greatly.

Canned tuna is popular to get extra protein. I just feed mine duck starter crumble which has 22% protein. In fact I switch all the birds over to it during the winter and for moulting.

Well, unexpectedly it looks like I'm moving! I've been invited to move with in with my bf and his family, which was super unexpected and incredibly generous. The invitation extends to the ducks, Bonnie etc. We were meant to be buying a house there, but we lost most of our income and it was no longer possible. Still the plan, but delayed.

But now we will be moving 250 miles early next year... this is exciting and terrifying. At least getting our own place will be easier when the time comes, it won't be loads of travel and I'll be able to actually see the houses before we commit! Something I was not able to do previously.
I'm suddenly very nervous about travelling with the girls though, Dougie has only been in a car once and hated it. This will be a minimum 5 hour drive. Any advice welcome

I've traveled with birds in the past. They do best in a darkened space while you are driving. Not totally black but if you use a large cage, cover it with a dark material to make it pretty dim. Attached it well so it doesn't roll off. Birds get way less stressed if they can't see too much. Don't leave and food or water in with them, it makes a mess. Stop every couple few hours for food and water. Don't let them out as you can lose them if they get confused. Oh and use deep bedding so they don't slip in the cage.

I should have mentioned it but the whole flock get cooked meat, leftover cooked meat, canned tuna, eggs, and whatever else in the leftover bucket.

If its only about 5 hours travel time, do you think they'd still need a snack with one of the stops, or just a drink of water to stay hydrated? I want them as comfy as possible but also considering the amount they poop!

They should be fine without anything honestly. But water shouldn't hurt at least
