If its only about 5 hours travel time, do you think they'd still need a snack with one of the stops, or just a drink of water to stay hydrated? I want them as comfy as possible but also considering the amount they poop!
I agree with @JacinLarkwell you can skip the food but you might stop half way and offer water. They may be too stressed to drink but maybe not. It will give them comfort to know you are still there too.
 
I caved in. leaned and fired up the incubator and set 21 OEGB (Lemon Blue) and 12 Bantam (Isabel Cochin roo x Isabel Silkie mix hen) eggs.

I know they're fertile but a few are a bit older so we shall see...

Yes and no! Where am I going to put a potential 33 chicks in winter?? I'm sort of counting on the fact that OEGB eggs have a notoriously low hatch rate.

I just figured that if anything happens to any of these birds over the winter, I'll have replacements. Plus, I'll have mostly-grown birds for sale in the Spring.
