I posted here. :hugs I am not incredibly versed on ducks but if this is a simple case of bumblefoot surgery, I can help you with that. 💕
You did help though! I'm going to ask the vet about this the next time we speak, which might be tomorrow depending on how she is.
I love my two ducks so much, I hatched them and hand raised them, they're very friendly girls, especially Sprightly. She's felt so poorly she's been sitting on my lap sleeping so much of the day, enjoying having her face stroked. It's the only comfort I can really offer her right now....

I'm so lucky to have my partner's support now that we live together. All issues in the past I had to be the only one dealing with, as my bf and I were long distance. So I'd be stressed about any issue my animals have and have to deal with it pretty much alone. And now this time my anxiety is very very bad, and I felt very sick tonight, absolutely rotten from the stress (not just about Sprightly but a bunch of things) And he was here helping me give her the meds and now he's giving her a cool water soak and then putting her to bed. It feels so good to have support. And they're finally bonding too!

Not sure if I've mentioned before that our senior male cat and my female cat hate each other and always have.
They usually have small scuffles but earlier today they got into an actual fight.
The noise my cat made is still haunting my ears hours later.
And of course despite the fact that our male cat is usually the one who starts everything, my cat got blamed for it entirely.
Both cats are fine though.

These Zebras are definitely different from the more fleshy Haworthias. I find zebras to be SO easy to care for, they are quite resilient and aren't complainers. 😂 They aren't fussy at all. They aren't heavy drinkers but they don't like to go more than a month without water even during dormancy. If you are starting to get a lot of brown tips of the leaves, you need to up your watering schedule. My big gal gets water every 2 weeks during the growing season and then every 4 weeks during dormancy. Your gal is tiny so I wouldn't go more than 3 weeks between watering during dormancy to keep her roots alive until her root system is bigger. Once she is settled and growing, you will know she is dormant when she stops flowering and growing, usually June through November. 😊

Thank you! This is very informative. I guess I’ll come to know her better come November. It’ll be nice to have some winter growers in the collection. For now I think I’ll do one a week or once every other week, and we’ll see how she does with that!

You need hugs. :hugs Our plates always seem piled high when we have a lot of stressful things going on. Make sure to slow down and breathe deeply to help your body cope which in turn helps the mind. :hugs

And I know how stressful it is when our babies are sick or hurting. Just keep up all the loving on Sprightly. And I am thrilled you are finding peace with your home life and partner, companions that understand are everything in life.

She looks a bit thirsty so I would give her a good drink soon. Every other week sounds perfect for her size. You will know she's awake when she start growing, these plants are constantly sending out stems, they just can't help themselves. 😁 I think you will enjoy her greatly! 🥰

Haworthias can live for decades and the babies never stop coming! 😅 I didn't know anything about separating them back then and most people do separate them. At the point my plant is at, I'm sure it would be detrimental to the entire plant to detangle all those roots so I let it do its thing, getting bigger and bigger and bigger... :p

Yes you did great pruning your Jade! Jades can become trees and if you want to keep them compact and especially if you want to keep them in their current pot for more time, you can cut out other branches or branches in the current trunk. I just trimmed mine down, it too was becoming a monster and it's already in a 10 inch big pot.

I tried keeping all my plants outside last year and it was like a biblical plague of bugs! Thrips, aphids and scale, oh my! 😱 I lost quite a few due to bugs and it took months to clean them up. I keep a lot of desert type cactus which have high light demands so I started using Grow lights inside along with the several hours of sun they get in a southern window. My big monster barrel and columnar cacti do live outside during the summer though for max sun. I will have to make sure they are de-bugged soon to bring them in in September. I haven't seen any bugs on them but I'm not taking any chances!
Yeah, I actually want my Jade to look more like a tree. I didn't treat her well in her formative years I don't think (not enough sun) and I kind of let it grow in any direction. So I pruned it and repotted it and staked it. So I'll report back in a few months on how she's doing.

You have a Jade in a 10" pot?! Wow, so that means the root ball must be closish to that big? I tried to follow the advice of not using too big of a pot since they don't mind being a little rootbound. Any idea of how old your Jade is? It kind of makes me sad I could have a really nice Jade plant if I didn't neglect it so much. Oh well, what is 6 years of growing another one?

I've used grow lights before, so that's a good suggestion. We have 2 nice south facing windows, but the cats kind of have one claimed already. 😅

I'm going to try to get creative, though with the one in our kitchen and try to maximize that space. But watch out, cats! The Haworthias might be comin' for ya (window!)

Thanks for letting me glean from your experience! I hope you're having a great day! :D
