@fluffycrow has given you some wonderful tips @Jener8or, Fluffy has been keeping succulents far longer than me and knows way more than I do on many accounts. I've always kept a few succulents or cacti around but didn't involve myself with them as I do now. So I am really only a year or two into the hobby of succulents and am still learning, every plant has been trying to train me and eventually I learn how to understand them.

This is what happens to a Haworthia when you don't separate it's babies...

It's become a monster, it was given to me years ago as a neglected 1 main plant. I believe it's 6 or 7 years old now, in a 12 inch pot, I have no idea what I'm going to do with it when it needs a bigger pot!

Yours is absolutely gorgeous! That particular variety wasn’t even something I’d considered purchasing until seeing how gorgeous yours has turned out. It looks so wild and uncontrolled, goes perfectly with the pot too!

Guys good news! Frankie (the new budgie) has decided we aren't trying to poison her and will now accept treats!! She's also finally ditched her bad perch and accepted the new ones. She seems happier today!

Thanks Fluffy! I believe it's the "Zebra" variety? In the wild this is exactly how it would grow, so I'm getting a taste of its natural self. I love this plant, and look forward to watching it increase in size. It just got done with 4 flower stalks, so I believe it's a happy one.

I’m sure she is! I’d be happy too if I was in that gorgeous pot!

I believe you are right, it’s a zebra. Definitely a fitting name!

The pot says Made in Italy on it. I believe it's clay.

So when are you getting one of these zebras?

Well that specimen is just stunning! It looks really amazing! I love it! You both are really inspiring. Hopefully I can report back with some happy plants, too. I might need to start getting creative with our window space, haha.

Yeah, what are you going to do when your Haworthia makes more babies ? Are they all stuck together? (I know nothing of how this works .)


I pruned my jade plant today (don't know if that was the right thing to do or not). I didn't know what I was doing growing it for the first 5 years of its life (still don't.) I know it could/should be a lot bigger but we got the cutting for free from our internet provider (small town, haha) which was really sweet of them.

Anyways, do any of you grow Jade? Mine doesn't look like this anymore, but I'm hoping I can get it bushier and happier, and hopefully get at least one more plant from what I cut off.

(I probably need to repot it, too--I really haven't payed too much attention to it til now besides watering it .)

Then I have these little sedum/stonecrop things that I found. I don't know if they flower or not, I'm sure they do, but I'm hoping I might be able to bring them inside and keep them (or some of them) when it gets cold.

I'm really looking forward to learning and seeing more of your all's succulents! They are really fun to see, such weirdo little plants.

As for haworthia varieties, I have two! Haworthia cooperi, and truncata.

Does your H. truncata kind of look like a cucumber that is sliced up (like if you have bad astigmatism and squint one eye or something)? I'm assuming they all kind of look like that? Those look pretty neat.

Yes, pups are attached to their mother plant. After about three years, that attachment is pretty much gone, and the pups feed from their roots (and start producing pups of their own).

As for Jade, yes, I do. Mine went through a funk last summer, and all its leaves started to yellow. If you want a bushier look, the one thing to do is cut. Cutting the very top part will force each branch to produce new offshoots across it, giving it a bushier look. One thing that succulents do need, unfortunately, is time. Take the cutting slow, as the added offshoots will put a lot of weight on the branches, and Jade is known for breaking. The parts you have cut can be replanted in the same pot after they have calloused over.

I’m not sure what that little guy is, but I think you’re right in classifying it as a succulent type. From the looks of it, it might like more water and less light than the standard succulent, though carpeting succulents can be tricky

Apologies for the confusion. Truncata is not yet a variety I have, but one I’d very much like to add to my collection.
