Was it also very scary for you all when you started driving by yourself?
VERY! Both hands on the wheel in a death grip. No radio on to be any kind of distraction.

One thing that helped was to get out on some country road where there was very little traffic, and just drive for a few miles. Get used to the controls, how the pedals feel, etc. Except nowadays, you can burn a lot of money in gas. :hmm

One suggestion: Figure out ALL the emergency stuff while you're sitting in the driveway. E-brake, 4 way flashers, etc. And the windshield wipers, defrost, heat, A/C, etc. And the hood release. I went in for an oil change and couldn't find it. 🤦‍♀️ Felt very dumb.

My second car, I got a stick shift. I drove it home fine, then stalled 3 times trying to get into my parking spot. There was one road that I normally took to work, but not when I got the stick shift. It was a STEEP hill, and two stop lights on the way up. I drove that car for half a year before I went up that hill.

Good luck!

Also, for anyone curious. I picked up my temporary license yesterday and did a bit of extra driving by myself to get re-use to the car I'll be driving to work.

I barely got mine last year and it took a while for me to get used to driving alone since I had to have someone 25+ to accompany me while I had my permit. It was kinda intimidating at first but I got used to it.

Don't worry, I asked my dad a lot of questions about the car before I went to get my license

I cannot have music blasting while I drive or someone excessively talking to me 🤣 I need zero distractions!
