I had a freaking article pop up in my feed this morning, condemning foragers for their part in not only taking away nature's reserves, but causing the economy to suffer

Foraging is often exploited for economic/commercial gain.....not by people who are gathering for their own use, but folks who want to sell it.

Which comes down to what I was saying: that most people are responsible about it. It's those that are doing stuff for money that aren't, and those are the minority.

Wild garlic is going extinct because of a$$hats that are greedy. So long as they make money *now* they don't care.

I've seen foragers taking some, but leaving most of it. And because we saw, they told us what it was and that we should try some. We never did, but they seemed responsible and never took that much

Wish people were more responsible around here. You see them with stupid stands at the side of the road selling them by the quart jar!
