LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

This would be perfect timing! Actually I'd put them under her earlier, maybe on lockdown day. Let her do the work.
I find they graft easier when they are put under mama when they pip if the hen is a good mother.

Will do. Also checked air cells on the eggs. They seem to be on the pointy side. Should I set them and leave the turner off so that the air cells get attached to the right side and avoid any detached air cells? I dont know how Cruella will be, i don't even know if she'll commit this time round. External or internal pip?

Air cells in the pointy end is not a good thing, chicks have a difficult time hatching from the pointy end. Make sure to always store hatching eggs pointy end down and collect them soon after laying if you plan on hatching them so you can control where the air cell develops.

This said, if you want to continue with incubation, I would definitely lay the eggs on their sides so at least the embryos have a chance. And if the hen abandons ship toward the end of the cycle, you can finish them yourself. Let's keep our fingers 🤞!

Funny thing is, I've been keeping them on their side just so I could prevent that. No matter, if that means no embryos will develop, I'll start over

They really should be stored upright. I am not 100% sure how your eggs will turn out, I don't incubate eggs unless air cells are where they are supposed to be. Some chicks can hatch from the pointy end but mortality rate goes way up. It's up to you. :hugs

Crap. So I did it wrong. Oh well. Another week I guess. Would it be possible to fix the air cells by doing the same thing they do for shipping, ie letting them rest for 24 hours, or are they too far gone

So sorry. :hugs I don't think the air cells will move a whole lot, I've never tried it. But this is a good time to practice, maybe they will, learning is what this stuff is all about! :)
