LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

My broodies will usually either come out when they see me or wait until they know I'm gone to come out. Depends on each bird.

That's probably what's happening, since Cruella is not a people friendly bird at ALL. Let's hope she's an independent queen and not a sitting on my nest till I'm starving queen

Koutsi is still sleeping next to Cruella. Go figure. She's still sitting tight. Haven't seen her getting up ever since I threw the meatballs though. Maybe she's getting up very early in the morning when it's cooler outside? Doesn't make much sense, though
I wouldn't be too concerned yet. She may be getting up on the sly so you don't see. Try the meatballs again tomorrow and see if she gets up. Koutsi thinks she's Cruellas personal guard chicken. :D

Koutsi is my oldest hen, along with my other ISA brown. She's around 3 and something years old. Fun fact, she clucks like a broody hen
Huh. I often have pullets that co-nest with broodies when they're getting used to laying (My theory is that its a comfort thing when theyre sore and unused to laying eggs), but I'm not sure what she's doing if she's been laying for so long.

It's because she can't fly. Long story short, one and a half years ago she got sick, so she was separated from the flock. While in the med bay (as I like to call it) she got attacked by a predator, who bit off three of her toes (that's why she's named Koutsi) and obviously in the commotion she hurt her wing. I didn't notice that until way later, as there isn't room to fly in the med bay flock. That's the reason I made the ladder, but apparently she ain't a fan
