LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

@Tre3hugger Watermaal are a belgian bantam breed and extremely rare in the US, though were added into the ABA book as of this year! Basically a d'anvers, but add on a poof like a polish minus the crested skull and then they have a unique rose comb with three little spikes at the end as well!

Here's one of my hens named Kestrel:

I currently have a trio plus a brand new baby chick and am hoping to breed a few worth showing by the time there are shows again next year (if the whole covid thing allows there to be shows that is)
That is one cute chicken, definitely not my thing, unfortunately we have silkiemixes we keep and have to give them haircuts to keep their eyes working against hawks where I live. Is that a bantam breed?

@AllenK RGV It is a bantam breed! They're not too much bigger than my seramas, though certainly chunkier. The crest and beard isn't as bad for vision on these guys as silkies by far and they can see perfectly fine. I just happened to pick a picture that was from an angle that made her look extremely fluffy lol

I just really love that they're a crested breed without a vaulted skull too.

I also would like to take the opportunity to introduce you all to our cochin/silkie mix refugees from Hurricane Hanna. We had her go broody(obviously) outside the fence line and brood up a mess of chicks and the neighbor dogs found her. We were able to get them all rescued and relocated to a safe shelter Friday evening. I doubt the outcome would have been good had they not had shelter from the storm. This is a cross post and welcome deletion on those grounds but hey this is our life.

@AllenK RGV You have a lovely bird. :)

@Raptor-tooth Aww! What a sweet lil chick! I hop it makes it for you and turns into a lovely hen. to lay you eggs. :)

*Sigh* My mom bunny lost two of her 11 kits. Nine is still a great number and all three harlis are OK (one was underfed but I got it a meal) but I'm disappointed. We were supposed to have another litter drop yesterday but it didn't and I'm starting to wonder if my castor buck is having trouble. He's a little older so it would make sense but it would be a big bummer. We'll be re-breeding the one who didn't drop a litter and a NZW in a day or two.
