LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Is having a broody hen worth it? I always incubate eggs. My own chickens will never brood because of the breed type.
Id say yes especially if you find a good mother. They teach the chicks flock etiquette while protecting them from others trying to bully or steal their food we freerange and the chicks and mum goes out after about day 5 but we have very very few preditors. And mum knows best lol. Also our dogs are quite protective. Im doing my first incubation at the moment and I'm pretty apprehensive about it but hopefully I'll make a good chicken daddy πŸ˜‚

Thread lurker here, just popping in to say hello to everyone. I've got 3 laying hens--She-Ra my gold lace Wyandotte, and Zelda and Meryl Peep the Easter eggers--and have a dozen chicks of various breeds I hatched out this past week. They're my meat chicken experiment, though I may keep one of them for eggs since She-Ra is starting to head into older years for laying consistently. Depends on what my neighbors will tolerate :p.

Anyway, hope everyone's doing well and your birbs are all healthy and happy!

This is a on going thread. So don't mind the date.

Just off topic, but I was reflecting about last year and the amount of people that passed away from covid. Close to 600,000+ people died from covid.

I personally don't know anyone close that met that fate and wondered if this community had any relatives or friends that met there end.

Don't feel obligated to answer if it's too emotional.

I would really like children when I’m married.

One day you’ll be seeing me dragging my wife around target and old navy, buying every cute pair of baby shoes and clothes you could ever imagine.

No loss of life, but a family member lost a leg due to COVID complications.
