LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

So far, I have never had a human aggressive pheonix male period, including when their nuts are bigger than their head. Two that were incompatible with my flocks, but not too badly in that regard either.
Do you know if Phoenix hens tend to be broody?

My Swedish flower hens don't ever brood. Makes me wonder how they were able to survive in the wild in Sweden.

That's why I'm trying to get breeds that *do* go broody. If the power grid ever goes down, then I'll still have eggs and chicks.

Absurdly. It's not even warm spring here and I've already got 2 in various stages of brooding.

Mine reproduce like rats, but the magpies get a good portion of the chicks when I don't keep mom penned, so they help woth population a bit. They do best with a ton of different hiding areas. I've had them brood a nest under a shelf no joke about 4 inches off the ground. They take over my old quail cages too, as well as in the wool loft and behind other cages or behind feed bags and barrels.

Look into spitzhaubens and possibly araucanas (still in testing phase) too.
My Spitz go broody at least once a year, usually together and have had 2 successful years (3 batches) in a row now that they know what to do and that I'm not a threat to them.

And silkies, obviously. Mine tend to wait until mid summer to go broody, but I trying to get one to brood now to take any eggs that my Co nesters leave
