That would be fine, so long as you periodically discharge the quartz.
All that negative energy needs to go somewhere, too. Thus the need to cleanse. I'll be honest, most of mine currently reside in either an old cigar box or on very dusty shelves (thanks to having indoor chickens and all their dander!). If I were to use any of them, I would make sure to get them discharged first.
I went on a Haunted Walk a few years ago, and part of it was in the old city jail (which has been converted to a hostel, and I know for a fact has a LOT of negative energy). I brought along a chunk of obsidian with me as a grounding stone and to absorb any negative energies. When I got home, that stone practically crackled with the negativity! I threw it outside in the sun, in a tub of salt! Still felt uncomfortable, so ended up doing a full cleansing of the house with sweetgrass and sage.
I know a lot of people don't believe in this sort of thing, but I've always been sensitive to energies. Some just don't feel them.
And don't get me started on Tarot! I stay as far away from those as I can, lol!
