LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

My mom is in a somewhat similar position though with my dad. He doesn't want any animals once our dog and last cat go, unless it's an actual guard dog breed.

My mom wants a pug.

Suffice to say, a pug isn't tlbeginning to be close to the type of.guard dog he's wanting.
Maybe he'll come around and they'll be able to get 2?
This is a bit like what happened when my parents got me my first dog, when I was a kid. My mum wanted a small lap dog. My dad wanted a German shepherd. They settled on a husky mix who had shepherd colouring as a compromise- and now they both hate her because she wasn't close enough to what either of them liked. She's an old girl now, but the perfect dog for me. lol.

That's likely what's going to happen. Or he'll say it's a cat, he's already joked about that before. Hopefully still have a few years before that comes around though

Advice needed.
For a few weeks, I've been thinking about the next dog I want to add. I've been doing research on the different working breeds(Their needs, work, etc) and looking on the AKC Marketplace. A few days ago, I decided that I would really love to get a puppy possibly in the next couple months once I had a stable job so that I can make sure I can take care of all the needs(food, vet, etc).
There's just one problem... I still live with my family and my dad has already stated after our current dogs pass from old age, he doesn't want any more dogs.
I know that I'm an adult but since I still live with my family, I respect if my dad approves of certain stuff.
Is there a good way to bring this up to him and possibly convince him to allow me to get a puppy by the end of the year?

If you're going with an ethical breeder, especially in a breed that isn't too well known, it *might* take longer than that. I do understand the fact that you're trying to respect his boundaries. I think the best first step is figuring out why he doesn't want more dogs

Give him fresh dozens of eggs every other week. For a year. Even better if they are duck eggs. This usually works for keeping your neighbors from reporting your eight silkie roosters. It should work for you.

I don't really think that this is a bargain, or that bribery would be all it takes. If it were then they'd be better ways to settle it than giving eggs for a year
