LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

So you're basically saying she might be dumb and I might not need to do anything? You have peaked my interest

You might just have to pop in and keep making sure she is on the right nest

I do around 3-4 patrols a day. So that's good. I don't actually care if the embryos under her will be viable, she's got plenty more in the bator waiting. I just need her to stay on the eggs till then, and if she does hatch something under her, even better

My hens occasionally do that too, especially my white Phoenix who had a head injury from a raccoon last year.

You've got m thinking. I definitely know how to build stuff from scraps, most of my builds are scrap builds. I'll see what I have around. Unfortunately I can't move birds around. Should I put the girls back in with Cruella once she hatches the eggs, or should I let her raise them alone?
I would keep her separated with her chicks, somehow. At least for the first week or so.

So this is really weird. I went down to the coops, and Cruella was off the nest again. This time poofy, and sitting on the ground.guided her back, same thing. I really don't know what's her deal
Sounds like she may be flakey with her broodiness. Some hens never go deep into broodiness and this will cause them to abandon ship too early or get distracted easily. Being broody is controlled by several things from how much hormones she has moving through her body, her genetic makeup, her breed, the environment and her health. So all you can do is keep her healthy as possible and offer her the most inviting spot to go broody in, one she feels is the perfect place to raise her babies. Of course keeping your fingers crossed the entire time! :D
