I do, but wouldn't that increase the humidity even more?
Do you have a spray bottle? You might put some warm water in it and quickly mist the eggs a bit. I like to see a BIT of condensation on a small spot somewhere on the inside of the lid. This tells me the humidity is helpful to softening the shells.

I really don't think its 80% in there being that there is no moisture on the inside of the lid. Even at 70% there should be some steam. I worry the humidity is too low. Since I am not there to see your machine, I can't be sure though. Do what your gut tells you to do.

Just let it all sit for now and see how it goes. :hugs

When I checked it after say a quarter of an hour the humidity was back to 82( or 83, not too sure). I'll stop checking for a couple of hours and let nature take its course. By the way, how longer after a pip does the chick start zipping? Also, should I leave a light source in the room, or is there really no point🤣

Yes I think its time to just let this machine do what its going to do. We can troubleshoot after its all over if things go "south" and figure out exactly what went wrong. Hopefully it all goes off without a hitch! :fl

Once they externally pip, they can sit like this for quite a while as they detach themselves from the inside of the egg and absorb the last of the egg yolk. If after 24 hours and they aren't making headway, its time to intervene. And yes I'd leave a light on so chicks can see if they hatch in the darkness.
