It never hurts to have it on hand but I highly doubt this is his issue now. :hmm Other than antibiotics, I don't think there is much you can do at this point other than keep him warm and comfortable, if he is awake and conscious I'd dip his beak in the water to prevent dehydration. But again, this could be something internal or even viral, something that can't be fixed.

It's nice to have a small medical kit put together for emergencies. I keep wormer, Amprolium, Amoxicillin for bacterial infections, Acidified Copper Sulfate for yeast infections, Vetercyn for wounds, and wraps for bumblefoot... a few other miscellaneous things.

I will try to dip its beak in water, although at this point it's just waiting for it to pass, which is sad. Should I still dot he cider thing? I'm terrible about having a first aid kit. It mostly has stuff for wounds and stuff. Gauzes, wraps, bandages, betadine, stuff like that. I do have erythromycin though

If he's in any condition to have his beak dipped, I'd add the Cider. I'd dip his beak every hour this evening, maybe it will help revive him.

If he's barely hanging on, just make sure he's warm and comfortable.

It's the latter, but I feel terrible for not at least trying. At the same time, I'd feel terrible to stress it by constantly picking it up

I think you are doing all you can! :hugs I'd suggest the Erythromycin but it's probably to late. Just let him be, tell him it's OK to pass.

I'll do the erythromycin, and dip its beak once. If it improves, good. If it doesn't, which is more likely, at least I hope it'll be comfortable

Absolutely you are welcome, it's tough to lose our babies. :hugs :hugs :hugs

Thank you. And it does. Erythromycin was added to the water. The chick passed. When I picked it up, its body wouldn't bend. I dipped its beak in the water, as a last promise I guess. We buried it. All I can do is hope it had a peaceful death surrounded by its siblings and partners in crime. It sucks to lose chicks you've produced, it sucks to lose chicks, it sucks to lose old birds you've bonded with, and I'm sure it'll suck so much to lose older birds you've bonded with, but have also produced

Oh I am really really sorry. :hugs It really does suck, these birds really know how to build a nest in our hearts and its heart ripping and shattering when they pass. 💔 Especially those we've hatched, we created life, parents shouldn't see their children die. I've lost so many birds over my lifetime and it never gets easier. :(

I wish I could reach through this thing and give you a hug, shed a tear with you. My heart goes out to you. :hugs ❤️
