Gay Black Swan Đads Make the Best ParentsYeah our Jade plants (Crassula ovataI've only been keeping them for 1 year so I really don't know a whole lot about them. @fluffycrow knows way more than I do. Mine don't do anything either. One starting splitting last November, the other 3 started early February. But they only barely split and just sat there until June! Something wasn't right here so I went online and read through Reddit groups and sure enough others have had this issue. I hadn't been watering as you are supposed to let the new emerging plant use the moisture from the old leaves. But several people said to go ahead and water stuck Lithops. Sure enough, they began growing and splitting! But I will say that I think our nights are too cold for them. We get down to 50F every summer night and I think this slows them down as well. Strange but cute little plants they are.

) inspired me to get some Dwarf Jade plants (I ordered Crassula ovata 'Crosby's Compact' and Portulacaria afra 'Minima Lilliput'.) So we'll see how that goes! (I'm hoping since they're small they'll grow fairly fast), and maybe I'll look into getting them some lights like you suggestedSee now I only know them as Jade plants, and I had NO idea they were in the Crassula family! I should have gone with the Dwarf variety, good grief, what was I thinking!Yeah our Jade plants (Crassula ovata) inspired me to get some Dwarf Jade plants (I ordered Crassula ovata 'Crosby's Compact' and Portulacaria afra 'Minima Lilliput'.) to help them through the 'W' word
(and plus I'm impatient.)
I have learned many of the things I'm doing wrong with my Jade. (Like watering the starts before any new growth! Like who would think they would send out roots when they have NO water and die when you water them... I actually think I love that, counter-intuitive, but resourceful!) What a cool plant.
I had a cat named Jade. She was cool, too. We named her Jade because she would chew on the leaves.

Her OG name was "Harvey," obviously.![]()

Actually, I lied, yours is Crassula arborescens 'Undulatifolia' (that makes sense...) Oooh, new lights! I bet they are going to love it. I will have to check those out!See now I only know them as Jade plants, and I had NO idea they were in the Crassula family! We definitely learn as we go with these plants and sometimes it takes months or years for things to crop up that we are doing something wrong.
Ahhh... the W word!It will be here before we know it! I just ordered some new grow lights. I had been using florescents and they just keep getting weaker, burning out, and they put out too much heat. My Baseball cactus (Euphorbia obesa) got a little burn spot on the top from heat. I've got a fan running on them now but these lights gotta go. I ordered a Spider Farmer and some Barrina shelf lights. More powerful and run cooler. They should be here next week, I am egg-cited!!
Beautiful kitty there,I love Calico cats!!

Yeah I've burned a few plants with cheap grow lights. I've learned to go with reliable good name brand lights from now on. You should check some good ones out too Jen!Actually, I lied, yours is Crassula arborescens 'Undulatifolia' (that makes sense...) Oooh, new lights! I bet they are going to love it. I'm pretty sure I've burned some plants with those cheaper grow lights, too. Hopefully your cactus isn't too worse for wear--he'll be getting his royal spa cacti treatment, soon!
I hope you're having a great Saturday! Always nice talking with you!![]()
Congratulations on the new pups already! These Haworthias grow so fast, in a few years she will be huge!
Wow, yes this is early for flowers on Lithops! But they are so pretty when they do, aren't they?! My lithops FINALLY finished splitting, good grief, took 6 months to break out and grow! Mine will probably be too exhausted to flower this fall.
