No you do not need a license to sell eggs in California. You do need to put those safe handling stickers on the egg cartons though. The ones about not eating the eggs raw. You can get those from Nasco in Modesto if you are near there, or you can find Nasco on the web. Just find the agricultural catalog. They have a lot of different divisions.
 
It depends on what county you are in. San Bernardino County, yes you need a license to sell eggs. Then again, Hemet Dennis said it best - you need a license to breathe here.
 
here in Indiana as long as your hens are on the same property as you sell on (like in your backyard and you sell them at your front door or in your garage sale) you have nothing to do but sell, otherwise you have to go through the state egg board, but that varies state to state and comunity to comunity. But for some reason here in Indiana you can't sell raw milk.
