Hi-
I hatched a couple Liege Fighter eggs on May 1, so the chicks are about 6 weeks old. Come to find out after the fact, there is a chance the eggs are 75% Liege/ 25% Bresse. Annoying, since I paid for full Liege eggs, but moving along. I sent eggshells to birdIQ, and results came back both males. I def agree that the lighter splash looking one is a cockerel, but I’m not convinced with the black one? Just looking for second opinions. I guess it’s possible the light one is a mix, and that’s why the comb looks so much different? Thoughts?? Thanks!!

Personally I think the black one looks to be a pullet but DNA doesn't lie unless there's a possibility for contamination?

Hi! Thanks for your opinion. I really don’t think I mixed up the eggshells, but I also think the black one looks like a pullet, so now I’m second guessing myself🤣. Time will tell. Appreciate your thoughts!!

So what's the verdict? I know Lieges can be hard to sex young. Mine didn't start getting male saddle feathers until after 2 months old and I still have one 3mo that still hasn't shown obvious signs of being a roo unless you pick him up and move his feathers around to see his big boy saddle feathers lol
