Leaving Horius behind had only increased his relationship with her. But not only because he now he only had her left. Because now he saw that what he had torn down with Horius, he could rebuild with her. He asked softly "Are you happy River?", wondering what her answer was. He needed her to be honest.

River watched him as he stared at her, wondering what he was thinking about. His sudden question shocked her. "In what way do you mean?" She asked softly.

Xylo replied “With yourself.” He added softly “I’m not. I failed today as a leader. I shouldn’t have returned the way I did. And I softened up at Horius’ words. At things long gone. I doubted you today, and who I was.” It hurt for him to say those words, but it was the truth and he wouldn’t lie in front of her.

"No. I`m not happy with myself." River paused. "Why are you not happy with the way you returned? If you feel bad about draining Persepolis`s energy, I`m pretty sure it was me who hurt her the most. And you`er not the only one doubting me, I am."

Xylo admitted quietly “Because Horius beat me. And I failed to defend the Aves I love.” He took a finger under her chin and tilted it upwards so they saw each other eye to eye.

River didn`t pull or flinch away, simply sat there and stared into his eyes. "Everyone looses a fight sometimes. Physical or not." She paused. "I wasn`t very good at all at protecting the Aves I love, either."

Xylo responded “Our roles are harder now. More responsibilities. But we can help each other.” He added in a silent voice “It’s better than doubting each other. We get nowhere doing that.”

River gave another slight smile. "You`er right."
(Can we time skip to the next day in the RP? I think all the characters have gone to bed or are just sitting in their rooms.)

(I'm good with a time skip. But because of Prom Persepolis will keep sleeping.)
