Life from the Parsonage - A Journal of our Journey.

Rebecca---If you were close enough...you could come join the fun!

I have an update. I need prayer. I fell Wednesday (from a stepstool) broke 2 ribs and sprained my ankle.
I just got back home...as you can imagine, nothing went as planned. I have got to lay down, meds are starting to wear off...and
well,
ttyl

Oh no!!! Drats.

I hope you heal quickly and are well taken care of while you're down. May sweet words be like honey and healing to thy bones, In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

humbly,
Gretchen

I just wanted to thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. I really do appreciate them.
I am much better, walking pretty good, however not bending well yet, but so glad I'm pretty mobile.

So much going on! School has begun, for myself as well as the children...and lot's of upcoming events.

Will talk more later...chickens and ducks are doing well.
Oh....I have 3 males and 1 female ducks.
Anyone want to buy 2 male ducks? Cheap....

I'm trying to make preperations to attend the Clothesline Fair...hope I can...it will depend on how well I can ride. The brace the doc. prescribed helps..but that's a long trip.
The clothesline fair is an arts and crafts festival in Prairie Grove at the Battlefield Park..and it's always the Labor Day week-end (Sat., Sun., and Monday)

Best Wishes for a wonderful day

I'm just bursting with ideas...some I can do...others, well soon.
Here is one I fixed this morning...will make one for Mom and take it to her Saturday.

Also, trying to find yo-yo pattern. Saw two things at a museum...a fabric yo-yo quilt...and then (this wasn't antique) but they had a yo-yo pillow for sale that was a crochet yo-yo. So, think i'll try my hand at both.
The quilt was stunning! I realize this will be an extended project, well, I have a work basket (trunk

) for just such projects....lol
Soap...I'm going to try...soon. The Rev. said he would help me. He is a dear, been very helpful during this latest troubles.

I want to share this:
Rolling Romeo got in trouble Sunday night....he was sitting by flirting Flora and mighty friendly there...when his aunt, who had company, a young single woman, mentioned that RR had asked for her number, and was flirting with her friend....welll
Flirting flora got furious
somad.gif
RR was speechless
duc.gif
and I just sat and enjoyed the show....
hide.gif

she got mad went and sat by another feller who looked like a fish out of water, he was so uncomfortable!

Romeo told me I was a trouble maker....

all I said was..."did you get XXXX number?"

<sigh> they are like children...
School is going well. The children are enjoying their classes this year, thus far.
Fall is trying to come early. Picked our apple tree yesterday (the children and the Rev.)
I've got apples to put up...am going to try Scrambled's crockpot applebutter (sauce?)
and then put the rest up in freezer bags.
My sister has an orchard, we are supposed to help her pick when we go up there Friday.
smile.png

Do you know the Rev. gave me an actual black eye picking apples once? I was glad my mother was a witness!!
lol.png

He was on a ladder, and I was below trading baskets...I looked up and one fell right in my eye...I gracefully flopped to the ground...moaned a little bit...then got mad...because the Rev. was laughing...him and my mother.

I looked a sight.
One charming lady at the grocery store came up and told me, "I didn't have to put up with that kind of behavior!"

I told my hubby he'd better watch out...cause I didn't have to put up with his 'apple picking ways!!" I remind him ever so often about this....

How ever do you manage to get into trouble with a broken leg?? LOL
Yes, do try Scrambled Eggs crockpot apple sauce/butter. It is the best. That is the only kind I make now and get tons of compliments. Still waiting here to hear good news from you.

Now my dear, Ann Landers you are not, so leave those poor souls alone.

Encountered "Pretty Boy" again this morning. Did I mention he was going to be renamed 'Lucifer'?
Had my stick ready. He wasn't a bit afraid of it. 4 X's he flew at me. I guess there is nothing to do but give him away. He's still young enough he would be good eating...but my children cry at the thought (even though they are scared of him) to be honest. I don't think I have the heart to cook him either. Now how's that for farming? I should be eating my male ducks, they are ready...but again...NOPE, not me! <sigh> they waddle around (muddy - rain, rain, rain) and I'm quite certain they have a larger brain than my chickens. (no offense dear chickies) am anxiously awaiting egg laying from ducks. I have never had duck eggs, but I do hear great things about them. We shall see!
Currently, I'm working on a Nancy Drew party idea for my daughter...she is a Nancy Drew fan! Have some cute ideas, but the cake has been giving me fits...or rather my daughter...everything I come up with...."not 'Nancy-ish" enough....<sigh> yes, I will be serving Lemon Bars (apparently Nancy's favorite dessert) but we want a cake.
I have a 'clue hunt' all planned...bought the materials last week while at Mom's. She did decide on yellow and light blue as colors...Nancy's favorite? I don't know they look great together though.
She is deciding on her favorite Nancy Drew outfit at this moment in time...(It's still 2 weeks away!) Plaid pleated skirt, penny's, sweater, and a headband....

Anyway....I do love parties.
We are selling tickets to our Catfish Supper, which is the 1st Sat. night in Oct. and then getting ready for OctoberFest in Dumas...(arts and crafts festival) we have a church booth.
I wanted to go to the Apple Festival in Lincoln...can't get away.
Going to try to make the Friday of the Herbs Harvest Festival in Mtn. View....never been to this one, curious.
My sister gave me a copy of a book-- "Stocking Up" by the editors of Orgainic Gardening and Farming (it's old) but what a wonderful book...full of information!
I do love books....they Rev. just finished building me another bookshelf, which was stuffed within one hour of his bringing it in the house....lol
lau.gif
He said he didn't realize how many books we have....
gig.gif
lau.gif
Who's he kidding? That makes our 7th bookshelf! (These are not tiny ones either!!)

The clothesline fair was wonderful! I didn't hardly get to look at the crafts...tons of booths....but I enjoyed everyone I got to drool at. I did have the childrens picture drawn again. I love the drawings....they are very special.
There were at least 5 homemade soap booths...I didn't even get to all of them. I've been wanting to make homemade soap...I make the homemade laundry soap...but I've been wanting to branch out a little.
Working on 2 quilts, and a crochet baby blanket (my nephew's) and realized that Christmas will be here before I know it...for us 'home makers'....much to do...little time....but I'm thankful for every day God gives me.
*Note - I found something I've wanted for a long time....now, the issue is just 'getting' it.

Well, Supper has to be fixed (I know my English teacher told me years ago...it's 'prepared')
old.gif

But when I'm working with my hands..."I'm fixin stuff!"
