Encountered "Pretty Boy" again this morning. Did I mention he was going to be renamed 'Lucifer'?
Had my stick ready. He wasn't a bit afraid of it. 4 X's he flew at me. I guess there is nothing to do but give him away. He's still young enough he would be good eating...but my children cry at the thought (even though they are scared of him) to be honest. I don't think I have the heart to cook him either. Now how's that for farming? I should be eating my male ducks, they are ready...but again...NOPE, not me! <sigh> they waddle around (muddy - rain, rain, rain) and I'm quite certain they have a larger brain than my chickens. (no offense dear chickies) am anxiously awaiting egg laying from ducks. I have never had duck eggs, but I do hear great things about them. We shall see!
Currently, I'm working on a Nancy Drew party idea for my daughter...she is a Nancy Drew fan! Have some cute ideas, but the cake has been giving me fits...or rather my daughter...everything I come up with...."not 'Nancy-ish" enough....<sigh> yes, I will be serving Lemon Bars (apparently Nancy's favorite dessert) but we want a cake.
I have a 'clue hunt' all planned...bought the materials last week while at Mom's. She did decide on yellow and light blue as colors...Nancy's favorite? I don't know they look great together though.
She is deciding on her favorite Nancy Drew outfit at this moment in time...(It's still 2 weeks away!) Plaid pleated skirt, penny's, sweater, and a headband....
Anyway....I do love parties.
We are selling tickets to our Catfish Supper, which is the 1st Sat. night in Oct. and then getting ready for OctoberFest in Dumas...(arts and crafts festival) we have a church booth.
I wanted to go to the Apple Festival in Lincoln...can't get away.
Going to try to make the Friday of the Herbs Harvest Festival in Mtn. View....never been to this one, curious.
My sister gave me a copy of a book--
"Stocking Up" by the editors of Orgainic Gardening and Farming (it's old) but what a wonderful book...full of information!
I do love books....they Rev. just finished building me another bookshelf, which was stuffed within one hour of his bringing it in the house....lol
He said he didn't realize how many books we have....
Who's he kidding? That makes our 7th bookshelf! (These are not tiny ones either!!)
The clothesline fair was wonderful! I didn't hardly get to look at the crafts...tons of booths....but I enjoyed everyone I got to drool at. I did have the childrens picture drawn again. I love the drawings....they are very special.
There were at least 5 homemade soap booths...I didn't even get to all of them. I've been wanting to make homemade soap...I make the homemade laundry soap...but I've been wanting to branch out a little.
Working on 2 quilts, and a crochet baby blanket (my nephew's) and realized that Christmas will be here before I know it...for us 'home makers'....much to do...little time....but I'm thankful for every day God gives me.
*Note - I found something I've wanted for a long time....now, the issue is just 'getting' it.
Well, Supper has to be fixed (I know my English teacher told me years ago...it's 'prepared')
But when I'm working with my hands..."I'm fixin stuff!"
Ya'll come
