Thank you.
I'm supposed to go this week, actually tomorrow for Esau's corn. And then Thursday for more tomatoes. I want to can at least 75 more lbs.
Opened my salsa to serve company...and they were just dipping it up with spoons...didn't even bother to scoop with chips or the tortilla shells. I think this was my best batch ever.

Well, our revival has been extended...it has been an awesome time. So much I'd like to tell ya...
I've got supper to think about, company's coming, plus the evangelist family.
hu.gif

Beginning to think about youth camp...figuring out what clothes to take, all sorts of things to make sure you don't forget.
I wonder when I should start getting caught up on my sleep? It sure doesn't happen at camp.

Chickens were fiesty today....must be the weather, stormclouds are brewing off on the horizon, and there's a cool temp...not muggy or humid.
Not very happy this morning, as I was sitting out by the chicken pen...does anyone else do that? I've become a chicken watcher....
big_smile.png
I looked down at my feet, and there lay a third arrow. Neighbor problems is the only way to describe that situation. My husband has promised to go over and talk with them today. The parsonage has 3 acres, they have at least 3 acres...and hundred of acres of cotton fields across the road, why would they shoot an arrow into my yard? Clear on the other side of the fenced yard where my children and pets play?
Not having that. Never, I mean never, get a momma stirred up about her young'uns!

The four chicks from the last batch...I know, this seems wild...I think they are all hens.
hu.gif
No early tail feathers, no big crops, none of the tell tell signs! Not doing the chicken dance yet, but certainly watching this outcome!

Oh my, time flys when your visiting...I've got to get going, wanted to say what a grand week we've had here, and the revival is continuing. Will try to post again soon.
Ya'll come,
The Parsonswife

So sorry about the neighbors, hope that turns out well after your dh talks to them. Makes me shudder to think what could happen.
Glad your rivival is going so well. My, my bring out the salsa to the neighbors with a dozen of eggs, who knows.....they might just start attending your church??

The heat from Summer has settled in permanent now. No relief, no little cool mornings, the evenings are muggy and thick with mosquitoes, the sound of cicada's, and a sound, no longer new, but still fascinating, the sound of the cropduster. I have developed a fascination with one in particular, a yellow plane. Several others fill the sky, but it's the yellow plane that I look for. Sometimes you cannot even seperate the sun from the plane, only the sound, the humming that becomes a loud overpowering roar as it barely clears the parsonage roof. I don't care about the pilot, it matters not to me, it's the plane that I've become intrigued with. This morning the yellow plane came soaring over the trees in the swamp, rattled the windows, plates, and pictures in the house, and then sank to the field on the other side of the church. You can see it sway to their side, then rise straight up, in order to miss the barrier trees on the far end of the field, circle around and come back in the same pattern. Each time I look up and see the dull silver belly, only the sides and top are yellow, the underside looks like a dull, heavy grey. I always run out the door to stand and watch it as it piroutes through the sky, I wonder if it's hot inside? The sun beating down on my head makes my scalp crawl in an effort to find shade. We stand and watch just as long as they work the fields, then swiftly, the plane disappears over the far barrier trees, and only the sound reaches me.
My son, who has always been fascinated with planes, has developed an interest akin to mine in the crop dusters. One day, I believe he will fly high over my head, just as the yellow plane does. Perhaps, he will load his mother inside, and take me into the sun. I've always wondered what we must look like, I think it must be as God see us.
Each day I work towards a goal, a goal for my children, college. Their father does the same. We have from the time they were born, talked about school and college, all in the same breath. I want it to be a fact for them, something that just is. High School, College, period.
Chickens, eggs, and the little money I can scrimp to put back each week, he will fly, she will soar. With God all things are possible.
Who knew, chickens and college?
The heat is effecting the chickens, they sit with wings fanned out in an effort to catch the slighest breeze on their skin. And we are not yet into July. Soon the days of 100* heat will be here, now we hover close, but not quite there. The grass is browning, crisp under feet. Can't use the water for sprinklers, I use sparingly on my garden, it seems to wilt by the time the sun is high in the sky each day. It is producing, but seems late; though we are having squash for supper.
Can't stop for much, I've got a rally coming up tonight at the church, at least we don't have to pile in the van tonight, the airless 4th row is reserved for tomorrow night. We are going to hear an author speak about his book, ' 90 minutes in Heaven'. Can't wait to hear his story in person. Will be worth the heat, the sweat, the uncomfortable seats, to hear him tell his story we have read about.
Our whole church has read his book, they all want to go, I want to be early to get a good seat. Of course, probally would be a good idea to sit in the back with the young'uns.
Well, there is sandwiches to fix, and a few dozen cookies to bake.
And yes, more tomatoes to put up. The Rev. very kindly brought me home 75 more lbs of tomatoes.
th.gif
I didn't have the heart to put them up this morning. Normally, I push myself to get stuff done, but after my company left last night, I was just exhausted. I indulged myself by waiting 2 hours before I did dishes! Glad no one came to the door!
Revival finished up, and now youth camps are in full swing. Yes, there are many, many, sounds of Summer.

I am glad to hear that you in your busy daily life, can stop and enjoy the crop dusters and dream your dreams. When I finished reading about the plane I just wanted to

you.

You brought to mind To Kill A Mockingbird don't ask me why it just popped into my head while reading the first part of your narative. That is my favorite book of all time.
How did the talk go with your dh and the neighbors? Well, I hope?
It seems we are to have a break in the weather this weekend, thank goodness. Hope it makes it down your way.

What a fine compliment!
About the neighbor issue....uhmmm....well, I took it upon myself to talk to them. I had a doctors appointment that morning, was by myself, and decided to just wheel in there. My reception was not very inviting...he wasn't 'ugly' but friendly wasn't really a word I would use....I smiled, chatted, until he interupted me to ask, "What do you want?". So, I mentioned the arrows...did not accuse, just asked if he had seen anyone around shooting.
There was more said...the entire time I was firm, but always smiling, and left with "oh, you know how these momma's worry", and a laugh. I think just my very presence offended him. He's met my husband, and before that my FIL. They did not have 'high' opionions of him either. :|
I have found no more arrows...but he kinda threatened me about my 'little' dogs (not in so many words, he mentioned how prone people are to want to shoot little dogs)...who have NEVER been anywhere near the property line....mainly because the swamp lies between us; that and the fact that they are house dogs.
Oh yes, as a ministers family...we are watched. Maybe I should 'reason loudly' with my hubby less....

Well, back to the tomatoes.

**I was rereading this and wanted to add in here, we left this church in the 1st Sunday in June this year of 2011...we left friends. He is a collector of old classic cars...when we saw him, that's what we would talk about. Friends. That's a lovely word!

I really enjoy yours posts. Wow you lead a busy life. It sounds like you enjoy it and that's a blessing.

Hopefully your neighbor will keep the arrows on his side of the swamp.

The Parsons Wife Salsa

(This really is trial and error...just taste as you go)
25 lbs tomatoes
12 jalepenos
1 bell pepper (any color)
2 jumbo onions (I used white)
2 to 4 banana peppers
3 to 4 tblsp cilantro (fresh is best if you have it)
3/4 to 1 cup of white vinegar (5%)
1 1/2 tsp pickling (canning) salt per quart jar

Boil, peel, & chop tomatoes.
Wash and dice all other veggies
Place all ingredients in a large stainless steel or enamel stockpot (16 quarts or more)
Cook on medium heat (low boil) for about 30 minutes. (Until all veggies are completely cooked, soft)
Place in hot sterilized jars, with hot lids and seals. Make sure you wipe the top of the jars with a dry rag to make a good seal. Place jars in hot water bath for 10 minutes. I fill my jars to the bottom rung on the lid area.
Set on a towel to cool. Listen to the lovely sounds of popping, and enjoy.

I like my salsa mild. Feel free to add more or less of any ingredient until it suits your taste.

Church went well this week-end...thank goodness! We had some difficulties Sat. We arrived at the town we were going to listen to the man speak...stopped at the Sonic (we were early, it was hot)
And the van wouldn't start...anyway...after much ado, we got it started...via jumper cables, and made a dash for the church...our alternator was going out! It was a hot trip, that air conditioner in those vans are worthless! My little ones were fussing while we were waiting...they were just a sweatin...and then, the Lord sent a lovely breeze! It blew in those windows...my youngest fell asleep, and my daughter cooled off...and soon we were underway again...the Rev. at the helm...he was smiling and teasing everyone...his feathers were only momentarily ruffled...mine, well lets just say...I had to get glad in the same ones I got mad in....
wink.png
I didn't get mad...just felt at a momentary loss...there was 10 of us, it was 93* and was wondering how we were going to get folks home.
It was our 'Singin Supper' night at church....that is always fun!
My little choir members are panicking again....they do this everytime! Our Patriotic concert is Saturday, and they don't feel ready...they are doing good...just can't get that thru to them.
roll.png

I had several people tell me that they've got visitors coming to listen...and that sent them into a tizzy... he he he....what do they think we practice for, the walls?
We had a special blessing occur this morning. A farmer who lives just down the road showed up at 6:30 am and began brushhogging the acre of land behind the church (the previous pastor never mowed that area) I didn't like the tall grass, thinking of snakes and things of that nature. Here's the blessing...he did it for FREE!
yippiechickie.gif

That meant a lot to me. What a charming man, how very generous of him.
My little ones insisted on some fireworks this evening, so we set off some sparklers...and a coupla others...they were jumping for joy. We love the 4th. I have always loved the fireworks, I want to go somewhere else for the 4th here...we were out there for just a little while...and the hum of mosquitoes were so loud it was almost deafening! We were swarmed!
barnie.gif

I can't imagine sitting out in that for a few hours...
Well, I better go locate my bed...I am tired. Happy and blessed, but tired.
Ya'll come.

I added information to page one of my post 'Economy Cooking from your pantry'.
You might be interested to read it. I felt I needed to share it. Whatever you do about it is up to you. Have a blessed day!
