3 out of 4 of my three year old Warrens lay eggs daily. They had only a one month lay off in the winter and one began to lay again on Christmas Day. They are welcome to live out the rest of their life with me no matter whether they lay or not......but they are pretty mean to my Brahma hens... less than half the size and twice as grumpy!

ive heard that some silkies never lay eggs so im wondering does that mean the ones that dont lay might live longer because they aren't stress by laying so many eggs?

I guess it depends on the breed because silkies dont lay all that often..... Im sure the breeds designed for laying lay eggs a couple years.
