I have Lts, Buffs and Darks. No, there shouldn't be any black under the white feathers. I have only one pullet that has greyish feathers under her tail feathers, everyone else is white. My Buffs seem to have less definition between the black areas and the buff. They are beautiful birds, though! As for roosters, Brahmas are the greatest. Mine just turned 6 months old and he is HUGE, but a very gentle giant. My son who is 6 frequently still picks him up and carries him around. I have never seen the roo struggle, peck or show any sign of aggression towards a person of any size. For a family-type bird (which is what we were looking for) I don't believe you will find one better. I have a 4 month old Buff roo that is not quite as friendly, but not at all aggressive. My Lt roo is pretty possessive over his girls and sounds off whenever an intruder is near. He's not had to actually "defend" them as of yet, and I'm hoping it stays that way. Love my Brahmas!
I'm curious, what do people do that raise chicks and then find out they have a rooster? We don't want any roosters. We just got 2 Brahma chicks two days ago.
I am new to the forum and new to chicken keeping. One of my Brahmas has a partially gray colored leg. Her other leg is an orangish yellow... Is this normal?
